ZURICH (SUI, August 5). The sold-out Letzigrund stadium saw some great competition, despite the cold and rainy weather, in the Wanda Diamond League Weltklasse Zürich. Two-time Olympic champion Beatrice Chebet highlighted the night with a world-leading and meet-record 14:09.52 in the 5,000m. Letsile Tebogo won the 200m dash in 19.55 minutes. In several rematches of the Olympic Games, the Olympic champions lost, in the highly anticipated race of the men’s 1500m, Nuguse outlasted Ingebrigtsen and Hawker, Richardson beat Alfred, and Camacho-Quinn won the 100m hurdles. The finals of the Wanda Diamond League will take place in Brussels on September 13 and 14.

Women

100 m. Richardson beat Alfred 10.84 (0.1) to 10.88, with Usher-Smith third in 10.89.

400 m (non-DL). Jaeger beat Gogle-Valley in 50.49, who improved the 47-year-old Austrian record (50.62 by Karolin Kaffer) to 50.60, with Poland’s European under-18 champion Kus third (52.10).

800 m. Moraa clearly beat G.Bell (1:57.94) in 1:57.08.

5000 m. Chebet took the lead before 3km (8:25.72) to win the single race in a world-leading 14:09.52, also an MR and seventh-best time ever, with Taye second (14:28.76).

100 m hurdles. Camacho-Quinn won this Olympic rematch with a time of 12.36 (0.8) ahead of Samba-Mayela (12.40) and Russell (12.47).

400 m hurdles. Salmon in PB 52.97 surprisingly beat Cockrell (53.17).

High jump. Mahuchych is coming off his fifth straight DL win with 196 (saved from 193 in his last attempt), ahead of Olislager (193) and Gerashchenko (193).

4x100m (non-DL): Switzerland 42.55 over Holland (43.46).

Men

200 m. Tebogo, last (centimeter) meter, 19.55 (0.4) over Bednarek (19.57 PB), Knighton third (19.79), Kerlin fourth (19.81).

400 m (non-DL). Home win for Spitz 45.30 over Haydock-Wilson (45.41).

1500 m. In a perfect Olympic rematch, Nuguse was the only one to hold off Ingebrigtsen’s acceleration on the final lap, Nuguse dominated on the home straight to win in 3:29.21, ahead of Ingebrigtsen (3:29.52), Hawker (3:30.46), Laros (3:31.23) and Kerr. (3:31.46).

3000 m (not DL). Kropp and Kemboi finished 1-2 with times of 7:34.80 and 7:35.46, respectively, ahead of Kimeli (7:41.30 PB).

110 m obstacle. Holloway won in 12.99 (-0.3) over Joia (13.10 PB).

400 m hurdles. Premier DL win Clarke 47.49 over Samba (47.58) as Dos Santos retired after the first half and Warholm pulled out late after Thursday’s 100m.

Pole vault (non-DL). In poor conditions, Duplantis was counted out to Kendricks, both clearing 582.

Long jump. Pinnock jumped to 818 (-0.9) in the second series and won 802 (-1.2) over Tentoglu.

Shooting. Cruiser, 22.66 and all six attempts better than runner-up Fabbri (21.86).

Javelin throwing. Peters’ 85.72 beat Weber (85.33) and Dean (82.69).
