Upcoming India matches ICC Champions Trophy 2025 The decision to take place in the UAE was cemented after a meeting between Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Mohsin Naqvi and Emirates Cricket Board chief Sheikh Nahyan Al Mubarak.
The eagerly awaited India vs Pakistan match of the group stage will be played on Sunday, February 23 in Dubai. India’s other group matches include matches against Bangladesh on February 20 and New Zealand on March 2, also in Dubai.
Defending champions Pakistan will begin their campaign against New Zealand on February 19 in Karachi. They will play their last match in the group stage against Bangladesh on February 27 in Rawalpindi.
Tournament structure and schedule
The tournament consists of two groups:
Group A: Pakistan, India, Bangladesh and New Zealand.
Group B: Afghanistan, Australia, England and South Africa
The matches outside India’s schedule will be played in Lahore, Karachi and Rawalpindi within Pakistan.
The semi-finals are scheduled for March 4 and 5, with a spare day reserved only for the second semi-final. If India qualify for the semi-finals, their match will be played in the UAE; otherwise it will happen in Pakistan. The final will be held in Lahore on March 9, with India moving to the UAE if they reach the final.
Hybrid model contract
Champions Trophy 2025 will operate under a hybrid hosting model. According to this agreement, Pakistan’s matches in ICC events hosted by India will also be played at neutral venues till 2027. This model ensures neutrality in the matches of both countries, especially during the knockout stage.
The agreement applies to future ICC events including the 2025 Women’s ODI World Cup in India, the 2026 Men’s T20 World Cup co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka and the 2028 Women’s T20 World Cup in Pakistan.
This innovative approach aims to balance cricketing ties amid political sensitivities, ensuring the participation of both nations while providing a neutral ground for their high-stakes encounters.
