Champions League Predictions: Tuesday Matchday 5 Matches

The Champions League enters the second half of the new ‘league phase’ this week as the competition reaches Matchday 5 and results really start to matter.

Two-thirds of the clubs involved will reach the round of 16, but only the top eight will go straight through to the round of 16, eliminating the need to play an extra two-legged tie. In this congested football calendar, that in itself is more than enough motivation to perform.

Among the big clubs that are currently outside the top eight are Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, arsenal i Manchester City. Paris Saint-Germain aren’t even in the top 24 as it stands.

Tuesday night brings nine more games, split into early and late schedules. Bayern hosting PSG, with both desperate for a win, are the pick of the matches, but Arsenal and Manchester City have intriguing tasks. Barcelona is also in action against this year’s surprise package.
