Greetings friends and welcome to this very special edition of Roger Report!
I’m writing to you live by National Media Center Augusta After I spent the day after Augusta’s national amateur. I arrived in the country at 8:00 am and had bacon, eggs and coffee hash at the media center restaurant before going to the practice area to see leaders to warm. From there, I went to the first tee and saw the last groups go out with my associates.
One of my favorite things about Augusta National is their policy without phone. It makes everyone much more aware of their surroundings, and I ended up seeing old friends, whom I wouldn’t have seen if I had looked at my phone.
It was a very hot afternoon on the course, so I’m definitely excited to calm down things next week, but enough for me. Let’s talk about what really matters today: Carla Bernat Escuder.

I would admit that I didn’t know much about Bernat Escuder going this week, but her interview after winning made me a fan of life. She was just as ready and wise, all while answering questions in her second language. Let’s take a look at what she had to say.
Caddy conversations
I entered the interview room while Bernat Escuder was starting her press conference and sat in the second row to the last, just in front of the caddy and her team. Kansas State Coach Assistant Rinko Mitsunaga was in her bag this week, and she was still in her white sweatshirt and women’s amateur hats Augusta National in the interview room. The entire Bernat Escuder team was overthrown as she responded to media questions. Mitsunaga even received some cries during the interview. Let’s roll metaphorical tapes:
Question: After your shot at 13, it seemed like you and your cadad – you put your arm around it and had a fairly long conversation. Can you let us do it? What was that conversation?
Bernat Escuder: I think we were crossing the banana we just ate…. It was like, yes, the power of the banana, for Par-5. (Laughter). I think it was something like that. Oh, yes, we were talking – so my Kadia yesterday was a strong caddy. He wanted me to know everything about the golf course and he helped me a lot. But he made me dress three times in a row, and I would be like, well, and he is like, again, just once more. That was that.
This is a total moment “The best in the world is just like us”. Bernat Escuder told us that what she was discussing with her cadet was really not so deep. If, of course, we are talking about the local Kadin who tied her on Friday during her round of practice in Augusta National. Hey, at least all his paid instructions!
Q. At the trophy ceremony, you mentioned that your kadi is the real reason you won. Can you expand for this?
Bernat Escuder: Well, so I’m really difficult to ever deal with the golf course with her. I get nervous and I like, ‘Where’s my ball?’ But once I go to the golf ball, it’s fine, but it’s what walks with me on the golf ball. So she is what you hear me complaining, ‘Oh, that was a bad shot, what was it?’ Do you know? Yes, she does a really good job by listening to me and the kind to calm me down all the time. Without this, I don’t think I could have won.
As someone who is also difficult to deal with time, especially when I’m nervous, I really appreciate the consciousness of Bernat Escuder here. I know that it is not always easy to be in the end of my concerns and complaints, so shout all the kadies and friends there that keeps their loved ones calm.
Honesty of the mind
Q. Was there any special thoughts you had entered the round today? It was a well -filled leadership board and it seemed like people had scored very well throughout the week; That you may have to be aggressive. I’m curious what thought about how you wanted to play today?
Bernat Escuder: So one of my friends here, he told me that the tournament would win with mine under 12 years old. Today I just tried to play a nine very good holes, and I knew the tournament started at no. 10, so when I hit the second blow to no. 10, I was like, hell.
I will admit that I have frozen for a second when I heard that Bernat Escude swears. Is this allowed in Augusta National? I immediately looked at the national member of Augusta who moderated the press conference, and he did not seem to have it in mind, so I think it’s a fair game when used in the right context. Oh, and only if you just won at Augusta National.
fellow
Q. You had a warm hug there José María Before you went on the note. Did this say about you and what did he say?
Bernat Escuder: He was simply saying congratulations and that he looked at some of the golf I played today. It means everything because it is such a symbol for Spain. I was really nervous because last year I saw it after playing and called it wrong surname. I said Larrazabal instead of Olazábal. He’s like, ‘that’s not me’. AND I’m like, ‘I’m sorry’.
This is where I really became a fan of Bernat Escuder. Most people turn away from their shameful moments, while great people rely on them because they know they will make a great story. It would be so easy for the Bernat Escuder to remove that annex from her answer, but on the contrary she was ready to share the kind of moment we are all guilty of having, and she got a lot of laughter to do so. And making a room to laugh at the media members is almost as difficult as winning at Augusta National (don’t worry, I’m mostly a joke).
Q. To be the only ANWA champion from Spain, what does this mean for you to represent your country?
Bernat Escuder: I mean, it’s very good. Hopefully, this will not remain so because I want more Spaniards to get here and continue to push our country up and down. Yes, hopefully I’m not the last.
Different
Q. Your coach said you are the hardest worker he has ever been seen in his training career. How good is you feeling all that hard work to pay in such a great way, in such a big phase?
Bernat Escuder: I mean, I can’t process I have yet won. I mean, it’s really nice to see that after a cold winter we had and difficult days we go to the Golf Course and show up, it means everything to win this tournament. Alsosh also like that one honor.
It was less about what Bernat Escuder said here and more about her body language. She answered the question with a smile and a side eye to her coach, which made me wonder if she would have ever heard this compliment before. Either way, her reaction was laughing.
Celebration plans
Q. How do you plan to celebrate?
Bernat Escuder: This is a good question. Just go to dinner with all the people who came to see me. I want to stay here to see the masters but I don’t know if I will be able. And maybe a tattoo. We’ll see. (Laughter.) I was thinking of Augusta’s flower, but I have to decide on it. Is a great decision.
I am always intrigued to learn how players celebrate after a big win. On the one hand, it is one of the biggest days of their lives. On the other hand, they must be completely tired. So a dinner with friends and family sounds ideal.
Here you can hope that Bernat Escuder shares the content of Augusta tattoo on social media if she goes through her plans.
As Bernat Escuder’s interview ended and everyone was prepared to leave the interview room, I looked at her team again and said, “She’s funny.”
Her coach replied, “This was her” most “interview of all time.” I
I am glad that we all met him, even if for only a few minutes. Her personality AND Her golf will get it away.
