Saoirse Noonan will be a key name for Celtic if they are to find attacking brilliance, having come to the rescue in the team’s Champions League tie against KuPS. Goalkeeper Kelsey Daugherty has also been in brilliant form, and a strong performance will be crucial for the Ghirls when they take on Chelsea.

Celtic will also require a strong performance from captain and key defender Caitlin Hayes as the in-form centre-back continues his fine form for the Scottish side.

Celtic predicted line-up against Chelsea (4-3-2-1): Daughter; Costa, Hayes, Clark, Barclays; Cavanagh, McGregor, Lawton; Ross, Agnew; noonan

Erin Cuthbert

Sonia Bompastor has been forced to make wholesale changes to her Chelsea squad so far in her tenure, with star goalscorers Lauren James, Catarina Macario and Mayra Ramirez struggling to find physical consistency. The fluctuations in the physios room haven’t stopped there as Erin Cuthbert is also working her way back to fitness after a spell on the sidelines.

Lauren James will remain sidelined for Chelsea’s trip to Glasgow, with Catarina Macario and Mayra Ramírez in contention to play.

Chelsea predicted line-up against Celtic: (4-3-3): Hampton; Lawrence, Bright, Bjorn, Baltimore, Nusken, Cuthbert, Kaptein; Riding, Rytting Kaneryd, Beeve

While the hosts will have a point to prove as they bring Champions League football to Celtic Park, it will be difficult to stop this formidable Chelsea side.

The Bompastor team will be eager to rewrite the Champions League narrative of previous seasons, and it will all start with a statement in the group stage. Looking to extend their unbeaten run in Europe so far, expect Chelsea to be hungrier than ever when they arrive in Glasgow.

Prediction: Celtic FC 0-4 Chelsea
