Casey Stoner is widely regarded as one of the greatest riders in MotoGP history.
His career in the premier class was relatively short – he debuted in 2006. Honda And retired in 2012. But the Aussie sure made an impact.
After finishing eighth in the first season, Stoner moved to the factory Ducati Team in 2007. That year the championship was won by Dani Pedrosa with 125 points.

The 39-year-old returned to Honda in 2011 – finishing second with 10 wins and 16 podiums – before calling it quits the following year.
In total, Stoner had 38 wins and 69 podiums in 115 games. MotoGPPlacing him among the greats in motorcycle racing.

Like many riders in MotoGP, Stoner looked up to legendary Italian rider Valentino Rossi. But not many expected the intense rivalry that would develop between the two.
The pair clashed for the championship during Stoner’s Ducati days. The Aussies lost the 2008 title to Rossi by 93 points, with tension between the two riders at a key moment.

Journalist Mela Cherkoles who spoke on Niko Abad’s YouTube channel in 2011 She reflected on the 2008 Laguna Seca race. Struggling to hold onto the lead, Rossi passed Stoner by running wide and cutting into the track.
It was in this race that Stoner began to lose ‘respect’ for the rider he once idolized, winning the race as the Italian went on to finish sixth.
“There is a very important race that reflects the perfect and true rivalry between Valentino Rossi and Casey Stoner,” recalled Chercoles.
“Casey admired Valentino like most riders coming to MotoGP and Laguna 2008 was a race where Casey Stoner was half a second faster than Valentino Rossi at every lap.
“And Valentino intends to win that race fair or square against Stoner. How does he do it? He took the lead, pulled out, pulled.
“It’s the famous Lagana Seca corkscrew race where Valentino goes off the track, cuts through. Stoner didn’t like it at all.
“What’s more, that race ends with Stoner on the ground and Valentino blames Rossi for braking too early, forcing him to brake when he didn’t expect it and crash.”
“Valentino wins, Valentino is going to win that world championship, and Stoner says he’s starting to lose his admiration and respect for Valentino Rossi.”
Valentino Rossi continues in MotoGP until his retirement in 2021.
Rossi became a seven-time MotoGP champion in 2009 with Yamaha. The 45-year-old has the second most titles in Premier League history behind Italy’s Giacomo Agostini (eight).
In the year After finishing third in 2010, Rossi moved to Ducati and spent two years with the Bologna-based manufacturer. But he failed to reach the same heights before returning to Yamaha in 2013, failing to score a win.

The Italian spent the next eight seasons with the team, finishing second in 2014, 2015 and 2016. Rossi lost out to Jorge Lorenzo by five points in 2015.
In the year In 2017, he won the final race in the MotoGP at Assen, before retiring from motorcycle racing for another four years in 2021.
Today, Rossi is still heavily involved in MotoGP as he has his own team VR46. The Italian is still racing competitively, now not on four wheels, but in BMW’s endurance program.
