Carlo Ancelotti has admitted that he threatened to replace the protagonist Vinicius Junior during a warm confrontation between the couple in the dramatic triumph on Tuesday over the Royal Society.
Madrid had a 1-0 lead from the first stage of his Copa del Rey semifinals, but did a hard work on his return device. Ancelotti’s side went down 1-0 before Vinicius fixed Endrick for an Igualamat, but the Brazilian end was disappointing for most of the rest of the game, as Sociedad was found 3-1 in front with only ten minutes remaining.
During the second half, the cameras trapped Ancelotti and his assistant, Son Davide, in a heated exchange with Vinicius, who was located telling his manager: “No, no.” The reports said that Ancelotti warned Vinicius that he would be replaced if he did not begin to make more efforts in the defensive end.
Asked if this was the nature of his crash with Vinicius, an honest ancelotti confessed, “Yes.”
Vinicius then took an assistance for Jude Bellingham who helped inspire a dramatic comeback. The two sides went on extra time and ended the level at 4-4 at night, giving Madrid A slender 5-4 victory over aggregate.
“After this conversation, Vini increased the pace and triggered all its quality, and it was very important in extra time,” added Angelotti.
“It is not good to grant four goals. We are a team that has no balance, but we have a lot forward. Notice four goals against Real Sociedad is not so easy.”
