Carlo Ancelotti has insisted that he has not asked Real Madrid officials to sign any new players in January transfer window, despite speculation that Los Blancos could launch an ambitious bid for Liverpool right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold.
Alexander-Arnold is approaching the final six months of his contract and is a target for Madrid when he becomes a free agent, but reports have suggested Madrid could speed up their pursuit of the Liverpool favorite to help them replace the injured Dani Carvajal.
Ancelotti, however, believes the current Madrid The squad is strong enough to cope without Carvajal and rejected proposals for a January move from Alexander-Arnold.
“We have Lucas Vázquez, we trust him,” stressed Ancelotti. “Then there’s Eder Militao. I see him well as a right-back, yes.
“I did not ask for new signings in January, as we managed the situation well last year.
“Finding a player who is good for Real Madrid is not easy. We are not thinking about it at the moment.”
Liverpool manager Arne Slot, who has repeatedly insisted there are no updates on Alexander-Arnold’s future at Anfield, recently praised the right back to stay focused on Liverpool even as questions about his future continue to swirl.
