Canelo Alvarez cooked Terence Crawford over his resume today and exposed him as no elite fighters on his artificially produced 41-0 Record before their battle on Netflix on September 13.
Canelo questioned Crawford’s resume
Alvarez (63-2-2, 39 food) spoke some real truths and put a spotlight on Crawford’s career by pointing out that he had never fought in the Pro game in his 17 years. In an attempt to validate himself, Crawford mentions that he fought Viktor Postol in 2016, which provoked a laughter of the Mexican superstar.
Alvarez dismissed Postol, Burns
Canelo said Postol was not an elite fighter and revealed that he was beaten in his gym by a 40-year-old fighter. He didn’t say who it was, but it didn’t matter. Few fans would say that postol was ever elite. Crawford then mentioned that he beat Ricky Burns, who he said was elite. Canelo did not go for it, saying that he was not elite either.
Indeed, Burns came from a controversial draw against Ray Beltran when he fought against Crawford in 2014, and in 2013 looked awful in his fight against Jose Gonzalez. Burns was clearly declining when he defended his WBO lightweight title against him.
What Turki Alalshikh should have done is to insist that Crawford beat one or two fighters at elite level, so he could share the ring at 168 with King Canelo. If Crawford were to be by this little 3-fighter Gauntlet, it would have been ideal:
- David benavidez
- David Morrell
- Diego Pacheco
Alvarez: No elite enemies
Canelo Alvarez: “If you look at his career, call one elite fighter,” Alvarez tells Ring Magazine Youtube Channel, talk about the barren resume of Terence Crawford, which is filled with fewer fighters.
Terence Crawford: “So, (Viktor) posted, wasn’t elite?”
Canelo: ‘Who?’
Crawford: “Viktor Postol.”
Canelo: ‘Who is that man?’
Crawford: ‘Ah, so he wasn’t commercialized, he wasn’t. Ricky Burns wasn’t elite? ‘
Canelo: “40 A 40-year-old champion beat Viktor Postol in my gym at that moment. I saw.”
Crawford: ‘So, Ricky Burns wasn’t elite?
Canelo: “Ricky Burns wasn’t elite.”
Crawford: “It’s cool. I’m going to fight with another elite fighter in September.”
Canelo: “There are champion fighters and elite fighters. There is a difference.”
Crawford: ‘I’m going to fight against an elite fighter in September.’
Canelo: “Okay, we’re going to find out. You’re a good fighter. You’re Uncle, Turki Alalshikh, has paid you enough money because it will be the last, that’s for sure.”
Crawford: ‘It may be.’
Canelo: “I hope they pay you enough.”
Crawford: ‘Sometimes as fighters fight, they are never the same. I hope your career continues. ‘
Canelo: “When you look at my career, they are never the same to me.”
Crawford: “Canelo has a big resume, fought a lot of big champions, but at age he fought them, Nah. They were backwards, some of them, and when he didn’t, you saw what happened. He fought (Erislandy) Lara, and I thought Lara hit him.
