Canelo burned out against Crawford, says Angel Garcia

Coach Angel Garcia says Canelo Alvarez looked like a ‘burnt -out’ fighter on September 13 in his loss of Terence Crawford.

Angel believes that the three recent battles that Canelo had has taken something out of him. The combination of a long career, wars with Gennadiy ‘GGG’ Golovkin, and the last several fights took a lot from Mexican star Alvarez.

Too many wars, too many miles

Many fans reflect Angel’s sentiments about Canelo who look like a ‘burnt out’ husk of the fighter he was in the past. However, it did not take the show against Crawford to identify it. Physically, Canelo, 35, seems to have blown off physique in terms of muscles what he looked like in his three fights against GGG. Age kicks in at 35, and he has too many miles of his fights against big names in the sport.

Two battles over – and major problems ahead

He has two more fights left on his contract with Turki Alalashikh, but unless he is carefully similar, he will probably lose both. At this point, Canelo would be vulnerable to any of the top five contenders at 168, and some even below.

If Turki insists that Canelo is fighting against some of the talented contenders for Super Middlereky, he will lose and probably be knocked out. Throwing in Canelo with Mbilli, Iglesias or Lester Martinez would ask for problems. Those younger fighters would jump on Alvarez from the beginning and bury him with power shots and force him to fight hard in every round.

It would be interesting to watch as a spectator whether Canelo could pull out some of his old magic, but probably it would end badly for him with his coach, Eddy Reynoso, and throw in the towel.
