Canelo Alvarez says Jake Paul keeps calling his name because he needs it to help sell fights and pay-per-views.
The Mexican star dismissed Jake’s recent comments about a possible mega-fight and the YouTuber-turned-boxer’s claims of a massive $200 million offer. Canelo dismissed the idea that Paul’s events could generate big business on their own.
“What I realize in every event. They have to talk about me to sell tickets and PPVs,” Canelo Alvarez told the Mr. Verzace podcast at Ring Magazine said.
“There are other fights there, and they always talk about Canelo. ‘Canelo in this, and I want to fight Canelo,’ because they don’t sell tickets. They don’t sell pay-per-views. They have to call my name, and I think Jake Paul doesn’t sell too many tickets for a fight that he has with his company. I don’t know. That’s why he brings $20 million.
Jake Paul recently claimed a fight with Canelo would be “the greatest fight in boxing” and publicly flaunted enormous wallet figures during interviews and live appearances earlier this month.
“Yeah, 200 (million) for him, 300 (million) for me. We’ll get the deal done. Easy job,” Paul said during a Fight Hub TV look.
Jake has repeatedly called out Canelo since their failed 2025 bookings, often accusing the Mexican star of turning to Saudi-backed events instead of facing him. Canelo’s latest comments suggest he views the calls as promotion rather than serious negotiations.
Canelo’s latest comments suggest he is not considering the bout as a serious option.
