Terence Crawford worked up today and responded to Canelo Alvarez reducing his record by saying he was just fighting one “good” opponent during his 17-year professional career, Errol Spence, and that was after he was in a scary car accident in 2019.
Alvarez: “A good win”
Canelo seems to have mixed feelings about giving an unaccomplished, unproven fighter like Crawford the chance to fight him. Terence never fought one of the killers at 147 or 154.
It’s understandable for Alvarez to take a swing at Crawford, who has a resume that arid of quality win because it is the truth. He is an example of how fighters can drift through divisions, capture titles against weak opposition and then call out a popular fighter for cash-out purposes. There is a system to this. What Crawford did to win four division titles is no different Adrien Broner did to achieve the same performance.
Terence’s Four Division World Title win
– Israel Madrimov – 154
– Jeff Horn – 147
– Thomas Dulorme – 140
– Ricky Burns – 135
Canelo wouldn’t have a grip on Crawford if he did at least, and that’s not asking much of him. King Canelo would be right to insist that Crawford put his soft skin in the general population at 168 to match it with the top predatorsBenavidez, Morrell, Osleys Iglesias, Christian Mbilli and Diego Pacheco.
The four-division Crawford was wounded by Canelo’s exact truth, but all he could reply was that he had “always had the joy of making” his opponents look like “nobodies”. But when they were nobody when he fought them, what does that say about Crawford?
Alvarez (62-2-2, 39 KOs) revealed the truth about Crawford’s career. He only beat one good fighter, Spence, and that was after he was physically wrecked from his 2019 car accident. Once you get past the win over Errol, there is no one on Terence’s resume that you could call a good fighter. They were either shot when Crawford fought them or B-level their entire career.
Crawford defends his legacy
“Lol, that’s crazy! So every fighter I’ve fought isn’t good, but one? Noticed! Just remember what you said, because I’ve always had the joy of making someone look like nobody’s business,” Terence Crawford said on Xwho responded to Canelo Alvarez saying he only beat “one good fighter” Errol Spence during his 17-year professional career.
“I respect Terence Crawford, but he only won one big fight. If you see his record, he only beat one good fighter. Other than that, I don’t think he beats any big fighters like Spence,” Canelo Alvarez said in an interview with TMZ Sport.

Turki Al-Sheikh has to tell Crawford that he needs to beat these three fighters for him to earn the fight against Canelo:
- David Benavidez
- David Morrell
- Osley Iglesias
I’ll be on board with Turki if he insists that Crawford run this gauntlet to earn the Canelo golden parachute retirement money. I mean, isn’t that how it’s done in the NFL and NBA? You play the best teams and go to the playoffs and championship matches to earn the chance for the top prize. Crawford is trying to take a shortcut to the gold, and I can’t respect that. It sets a bad example that others will follow, knowing they can skate through a career, pick on vulnerable prey and choose to get that magical retirement payday.
