William Zepeda, WBC -Tussentage lightweight champion, says he will use what he learned from his previous fight against Tevin Farmer in their Rematch on Saturday, March 29, in Cancun, Mexico.
Farmer’s adjustments
Zepeda (32-0, 27 CO’s) held a little too long to his original game plan, and highly capable farmer (33-7-1, 8 COs) utilized it by adjusting to adjust very hard, head-cut shots that won him round and close the battle.
Zepeda won the battle with a 10-round decision, but it was a Hallow victory as his stock dropped due to his fight to defeat the 34-year-old former IBF Super Featherweight Champion Farmer.
It was supposed to have been an easy victory for the highly arranged Mexican contender, Zepeda, to set him up for a world title against WBC champion Shakur Stevenson. However, because of William’s problems against the veteran farmer, he runs back to show that he can improve. If Zepeda solves Farmer’s style, he may just as well forget to fight Shakur because he is skilled.

Zepeda: Leather curve
“I expected an opponent who was defensive, smooth and with many tricks,” says Willam Zepeda on XTalk about his previous fight against Tevin Farmer on November 16 last year in Riyadh. “The only thing that was true was that he took a lot of bumps.
“The truth is that he, the work I did on his body, managed it, but for this opportunity I am very focused on our training plan,” Zepeda said.
William’s strategy to attack the Boer body did not work for the 10 round last time in Riyadh. Whether it was due to the competition that was only ten rounds rather than twelve, it is unclear. Farmer handled the body shots well and took advantage of Zepeda who left his head open by nailing him regularly with shots. That’s how Tevin dropped him in fourth place.
In the Rematch, Zepeda could possibly focus on throwing the farmer’s head to hurt him as Raymond Muratalla did in their fight last July 13. He made the farmer look to strike in rounds eight to ten. The referee set Tevin a point in the eighth because he tried to get his way out of danger.
“It’s going to be one of the most special cards for Cancun and for Mexico. Not only because we have a wonderful champion in William Zepeda, but also because Tevin Farmer, who is a real world champion and what is here to fight and here to win,” the promoter Oscar de la Hoya said during today’s Final press conference For Saturday’s re -broadcast between WBC -Tuss -interest lightweight champion William Zepeda and Tevin Farmer in Cancun, Mexico.
“So it is a re -broadcast that is taking place and is expected a lot. We feel that this card in Cancun is one of the best we are tackling in many years. ‘
