Israil Madrimov looks ready for his upcoming battle against the WBC -Tussentage junior middleweight champion, Vergil Ortiz Jr. On the last Crescendo card on February 22 in Riyadh. The former WBA champion 154 pound Madrimov (10-1-1, 7 COs) showed his movement and fast combinations in a video clip at the ring.
Madrimov’s uncomfortable style and mobility can ortiz jr. (22-0, 21 COs) fit, but he will have to be more willing to braai to win a decision in this battle. Madrimov did not throw enough in his last battle against Terence Crawford, and he made the 37-year-old beat him with a close unanimous 12-round decision.
The “little GGG” factor
Israil had the benefits of youth, power, size and mobility over Crawford. But eventually he lost because he didn’t throw enough blows in the second half of the competition. Terence was busier in rounds 9 to 12, which was the difference.
Nickname ‘Small GGG,’ Madrimov has to fight more like him to win against Ortiz JR, because he will work out through him, and the judges will give it to the younger man based on activity. Madirmov has been fighting for a long time, and he has to be able to improve his game if he notes mistakes. He did not make adjustments last time, but it could be a better style against Vergil jr. He is not as talented or brain as Terence.
If Madrimov can mimic Genadiy Golovkin in this battle, he has a chance to knock out or move on from Ortiz Jr. He arrives on August 10 with a grueling battle against Serhii Bohachuk and was dropped twice in the competition. Fans think Vergil jr. Should have lost the fight because he was surpassed. If that fight has taken something out of Ortiz, Madrimov has the one -off power to put him on the deck and possibly strike him.
