Ben Whittaker says he has signed with Matchroom because he believes that the promoter Eddie Hearn could lead him to a world title. Hearn is excited about his signing of unbeaten light heavyweight contender Whittaker (9-0-1, 6 COs), which he thinks he can become a star.
Hearn’s “golden signing”
The 2020s Olympic Silver Medalist, Whittaker, 28, leaves it to Hearn to get him the right fighting at the right time. He feels that he is now ready to fight for a world title, but he will make Hearn decide when, where and who he is facing.
What #9 WBC Whittaker needs is to start fighting against contenders on top, because he was slowly brought by his former Boxxer promoters. They kept the training wheels on Ben and did not throw him with anyone strikingly, and it was surprising for someone with Olympic credentials.

Learn to handle pressure fighters
In lightweight there are many fighters with a pressure style, but it can pack much more power than Cameron has shown against Whittaker. If Ben cannot handle the kind of fighters, he will not be the ‘generation’ talent that Hearn predicts.
