Check every week for the unjustified thoughts of our writers and editors as they break down the hottest themes in this sport, and join in the conversation by tweaking us on Twitter @golf_com. This week, we discuss Keegan Bradley as a Ryder cup, the best moments of 2025, Lottie Woad’s victory, ‘Happy Gilmore 2’ and more.
TELEGRAPH reported That American Captain Ryder Cup, Keegan Bradley, demanded a rule change in this year’s “captain’s deal”, which would allow a certain captain to advise players if a captain playing in competition. European Cup captain Ryder Luke Donald is said to have agreed to change, which could be a stone in step for Bradley potentially play AND captain in Bethpage Black. Although with all the logistics and planning that comes with being a captain, is it possible that a captain of the game can fiery in the US and go in favor of Europe?
Alan Bastable, Executive Editor (@alan_bastable) :: Hard to understand a scenario in which Bradley does not play. Now there are 12 best Americans in the game – let alone the 12 best Americans that bring the fire and intensity that Bradley makes to the course – so the American captain has a small solution, but to put himself on his team. This does not mean that he has to play four or five matches; This may mean playing only one couple. He has to send himself to the first match on Friday and take the swinging place. Can he turn fire? Can. But I think there is a more likely way to play in him than he has focused exclusively his efforts on uniform speeches and choices.
Sean Zak, elderly writer (@sean_zak) :: Can absolutely fiery. Team Europe definitely wants Bradley to attract the double task. They want the flows to be crucified and the information that should come from numerous sources instead of one. All that he said should happen at this point. Bradley has invested a lot to attract his captain’s duties again. And he is very good to attract his game skill again. So the USA team pushes forward. I would like to think that they have plenty of chefs in the kitchen to design a strong strategy for this unique situation.
Josh Berhow, managing editor (@Josh_berHow) :: It’s not an ideal situation for the US team, but Bradley is one of the 12 best Americans and has to play. Plus, you know he wants. He is the exact type of player you want to make birds and the crowd hypnotization and energy behavior in a ryder cup. Attracting dual task is not a great situation, but I also think it is a little overloaded. Yes, other things matter, but let’s not complicate them – mostly descends to play Golf better than the other team. I talked to Gary Woodland, a Vice President Captain, at 3m open a few days ago and he said he is extremely impressed with how Kegan is managing Ryder Cup’s tasks AND Playing this well now. It will become more busy for Bradley of course, but … maybe he can handle it? Although I am curious if it has ever been seriously discussed to fully charge the tasks for another captain of the vice president and that Keegan only play to play and take a rain check in his captain.
Speaking of the Ryder Cup, time is running out for automatic qualification players and bubbles to make their issue for captain’s choices. Which big name player has more to try Bradley to win a place?
graft: Jordan Spieth ranks 26th, but I still think there is a good blow to do this team. As for Wynham Clark, at 16, it can be tougher. He has had a very average year and has made more titles for some unfortunate moments, though we will see if this late increase will be enough. He was tied to the 11th in Scottish Open, tied to him 4th in the open championship and just had another good conclusion on 3 million on the open Sunday, connecting to the 12th. Is it enough? We’ll see. If Russell Henley and Harris English block automatic qualification points, it will make the captain’s choices even more interesting. Although a less well -known name I am really curious about? Chris Gotterup.
basic: Yes, Gotterup (which is now 22nd on the list of points) is an interesting. It takes so much for a “stranger” relative to hit the team, but, man, he looked good late. He feels like he has mettle to withstand the pressure of the Ryder Cup. Also I don’t see Captain Keegs falling into the trap of getting boys just because they have been there in the past. For me, among the biggest names, Patrick Cantlay is the biggest question mark. He has not had a bad season, but he was not particularly memorable, and his MC in the open championship had to give Bradley pause.
Review ‘Happy Gilmore 2’: The Good, Strange, Pro who stole the show and more
Joshow
Zakth: Jordan Spieth has a lot to try. People forget that Spieth (along with Justin Thomas) was part of the united Ryder Cup Committee to lead the USA team in the future. It was a small committee! Mostly because it was believed that Thomas and Spieth would be in teams for years and years. Well, JT kidnapped his way to the 2023 team and you would need some serious sneezing spieth to do this time. A Play off really good is what you would need, but do we really see what is happening?
Last week, we set a bow in the main season of men, but there is still much to unpack there. What was the most memorable moment of the big season?
basic: Sort of clichéd, but I will remember this year for EMOTIONAL WINNING Walk RORY Got from the 18th green of Augusta National to score. This shedding of joy – and relief – was something to see. The moment from that most burnt scene on my memory bank is when Mcilroy fell in the arms of Shane Lowry and Lowry Bear-embraced his old side one foot from the ground. For dear mention, shout at the unexpected Play off of the sudden death of Chevron, won by Mao Saigio. Wild fiction to set a major – just wish it had been extended longer than a hole!
Zakth: Who cares if it is a stencil if it is the truth! I will run a little by Alan’s response and say just the seconds after the blow fell for mcilroy when he knew. I find it ridiculous when the athletes collapse on the floor of their sports arena – think of all tennis stars that are destroyed when their opponent hits a ball at the point of match – but given how it had been up and down the day, felt like Mcilroy was running simply in adrenaline and nothing else. There was no more energy to keep it when he finally entered. Each part of his body seemed to touch the green at that moment, like a concentrated yogi, crying, cute. I will never forget it. Also will never forget the 64 legs of JJ Spaun.
graft: Scottie Scheffler wins two degrees and you guys don’t even write his name once. Sad! But yes, right, I get it. Mcilroy collapsed, crying, celebrating and walking to score was one of the most memorable moments of my 10 years in this job, right there with Tiger winning Masters in 2019 and Spieth Sunday at Royal Birkdale in 2017. Slam, gave him the first jacket and changed to the first and changed and changed jacket in the jacket. Mcilroy’s most memorable moments memorable (Pinehurst 2024; St. Andrews 2023) were memorable for wrong reasons. He did not allow him to happen again (ALTHOUGH was near).
Former high -ranking amateur (and newly returned professional) Lottie Woad won the Open Women’s Scottish to become the third member of the LPGA Tour who won in their debut at the LPGA Tour. What did you impress you more about the 21-year-old’s victory? And how much could the LPGA benefit from another new and future player by challenging the stars?
basic: Whatever happened to be facilitated in your career? Like many other new elite players these days, Woad reached the highest ranks of the game ready to win – and then only did it. So yes, I would say that I am more impressed than the unworthy it seems. Even when Hyo Joo Kim applied some pressure, catching Woad in the middle of the last round, Woad showed no signs of cracking. Instead, that bird of the bird 13 and 14 and never looked back. What about this statistic: In the last three beginnings of Woad, the average of its note is 67.4. If she is not preferred in The Women’s Open next week, she will be up there.
Zakth: LPGA can always benefit from an up and-comer. Especially one as designated for Stardom as lottie. She has a fun name, she just beat Nelly, she will be quiet in the links next week for AIG Women’s Open. Can she somehow attract bonds double?
graft: She did not make a noise on Saturday and made only one Sunday. This is the weekend recipe to win big tours. But if you reassess her press conferences from Java, none of these seemed too big for her. She was ready at the moment, she knew her game was good and trusted. It will be a problem for the US Solheim Cup squad, that’s for sure.
“Happy Gilmore 2” long-awaited-which was loaded with pro golfit aramat-finally fell to Netflix last week. Josh Berhow broke it hereBut what was your opinion on continuing the classic cult?
Zakth: I haven’t seen it, but I will report what I have heard: mixed reviews! Many people close to the game wanted something as classic as the original. They seemed disappointed. Many others did not care what they were getting and they just wanted to see Scottie Scheffler in a comic form. They seemed pleased! Honestly, this feels a lot like how “Space am 2” felt just a few summer ago. These strange sports films were hit most in the 90s for a number of reasons. And that’s okay!
graft: I think I would like it more if it were a little more golf and less like playing golden gold, but when you think about the movies past Sander, this type fits this scenario. “You don’t confuse with Zohan” was weird and made little sense, and I loved it. Cold to see the continuation of this come to life, but it would always be difficult to lead the original.
basic: Even I haven’t looked at all (Gasp!), But the parts I have seen reminded me of how much I miss Verne Lundquist. His “gangster sh*t, really” was a pointed point. I can also confirm film hits with General Z; My 13-year-old son-who had not seen the original gilm until last week-gave her two fingers. (He said he particularly liked the Golden Jacket Dinner in which Jack Nicklaus orders an icy and lemonade tea, oblivious to the usual beverage name.) My child also praised the scotie scheffler acting pieces. (Is there anything the boy can’t do?)
