You may have heard or seen heatherof Bolt in the baseball space before, with major leaguers like Ian Happ (from my hometown Chicago Cubs) waving their devices.
Last year, Bruce Bolt entered the world of golf, taking all of their expertise in developing premium baseball gloves and applying it to golf. What many consider an afterthought or even an ill-advised purchase is the heart and soul of the company, focusing on restoring the benefits of playing with proper equipment, even with accessories like your glove. Bruce Bolt aims to provide an athlete-first approach that brings high-end materials to the golf glove category, ensuring maximum performance with a thoughtfully constructed and expressively designed golf glove.
So the question is, is the cost of luxury worth it?

From the moment you receive your order, you get the luxury experience.
First, when you order your gloves, you are ordering a pair. The inside of the packaging (reusable and very bag-friendly) has a great explanation as to why they give you two gloves (it’s a bit of a nod to a “Front 9, Back 9” approach). The truth about golf gloves, and you’ll hear this from every manufacturer, is that they need to be properly cared for if you want them to last longer. Carrying a glove continuously through a round, especially in wet environments, will put a ton of stress on the glove, regardless of the materials the manufacturer uses.
By getting the customer into a pair of gloves right from the jump, they increase the lifespan of both gloves. Based on my experience so far, I’d say these two gloves will last about the same as 3-4 standard golf gloves worn in a row.

The gloves have been excellent on the course. We actually got a chance to use them on the last two stops of our Fully Fit tour – which you’ll see in the coming weeks at Callaway and Srixon – and I wasn’t the only one who liked the gloves. The whole group did. You can see the grip featured in my Callaway fit on our YouTube channel, as well as the TaylorMade driver fit that Johnny Wunder made with Adrian from TaylorMade.

They last a good amount of time and have some color which is nice too. I rotate between a white glove, a black glove, and a blue glove. The first signs of wear on colored ones are that the top coat of color finish will start to fade in high impact areas. But the actual handle material stays strong for a long time. I took about 1000 swings on my white glove (worn for practice and test sessions) before I got a real hole in my palm where I make pretty heavy contact with the glove.

But the most important aspect of the glove, which is hard to articulate without trying it on, is its comfort. It’s really soft on the inside without being flimsy or thin. Typically, there is a compromise. Durable gloves are heavier and somewhat stiff, and more comfortable gloves wear out very quickly. But Bruce Bolt has found a material here that’s comfortable on the skin, flexible enough to blend in the hand, and durable enough that I don’t feel bad about the luxury price tag at all.

Bruce Bolt’s design team has pointed out a few things that make the glove really stand out in terms of comfort. Instead of holes in the pattern, they have gone with a support material that wicks away moisture. They’ve used tapered toe shaping with a reverse stitching pattern that naturally fits the fingers with ease while hiding the stitching and preventing chafing points on the inside of the glove against the skin. The handles are full AAA Cabretta Leather with no stretch additions, and they’ve used a StaySoft Finish Spray to prevent unwanted bunching and peeling of the material. It all comes together in a grip that will feel a little snug at first, but all it takes to get it to mold comfortably in your hand is a quick warm-up session before your round. As you climb the first peak, you will feel comfort in your first swing.

The last and most fun part of this exploration with Bruce Bolt is the expressive nature of the brand. They did it first with baseball, taking wild color options and putting them on the biggest stage. While they’ve brought some color to their stock line, they also have Signature Series gloves designed with YouTube stars The Bryan Bros and 2017 Masters Champion Sergio Garcia. I love any chance a brand gives a player to show their personality and bring something different to the game without being too over the top. Sergio designed his glove around his LIV Fireballs team. The Bryan Bros have stuck with the icon series model for their Bruce Bolt identity.
