The Australian excels in the first indoor race of his career, taking two seconds off the world junior mark in New York
Australian teenager Cameron Myers chopped nearly two seconds off the world indoor 20-mile record in 3:53.12 at the Dr. Sander Invitational in New York on Saturday (January 25).
In his first indoor race, the 18-year-olds came out to beat Kenya’s Festos Lagat and Britain’s Adam Fogg. The US-based FOGG also impressed with a 3:53.49, although he will be hoping to get closer to his AS in the coming weeks 3: 49.62, which was set last year.
Myers’s time bettered the 3:55.02 world mark set by German Fernandez in 2009.
“It’s good to come out here and get it (under 20 surface closing world) but the goal was to run a little faster so I’m not really happy with it,” said mine how to go out a little harder.”

In the women’s mile at the Dr. Sander Invitational, Kellett Tuohy won in 4:25.54 from Vilma Nielsen of Sweden.
