Big stories about television ratings are all the rage these days, with every fan and analyst turning into a scientist trying to figure out why NBA viewership is at a new low.
However, former NFL star Cam Newton is more focused on baseball and recently shared his thoughts on the sport and its place in society.
“Baseball is like a dying sport, I hate to say it. I think in 20 years, baseball will surpass the WNBA,” Newton said, via Savage Sports.
Love you Cam, but the WNBA is not over major league baseball.

It was a late performance for the hottest pitch of the year, and just weeks after saying something wild about Juan Soto getting a $765 million contract to play the game, surpassing the record set last season when Shohei Ohtani signed a $700 million contract.
MLB ratings and attendance both rose by significant margins last season, suggesting that recent rule changes aimed at improving the pace of the game have been effective.
The WNBA is hotter than ever with new talent like Kaitlyn Clarke and Angel Reese breathing new life into the league, while it just added the first of three upcoming expansion teams with the Golden State Valkyries, which will begin play in 2025.
There’s no denying that the WNBA is making huge strides, but this just gives the impression that Newton just doesn’t care about baseball, so this is the narrative she’s built in her head.
Baseball certainly isn’t dying if recent trends are any indication.
