IBF heavyweight champion Daniel Dubois thinks Tyson Fury should retire after losing to unified champion Oleksandr Usyk in their rematch last Saturday night in Riyadh.
Dubois doesn’t come right out and say it, but Fury (34-2-1, 24 KOs) looked old and faded, getting schooled by Usyk for 12 rounds. The Ukrainian talent never had to go past second gear and boxed out the Gypsy King in front of a hushed crowd at the Kingdom Arena.
After the fight, Tyson didn’t say whether he will retire or not, but he is obviously going to return to the ring for the two fights against Anthony Joshua in 2025. There is too much dough for him to make in those ‘Battle of Britain’ matches to reject it.
Tyson Fury’s net worth is estimated at $160 million, and while he doesn’t have to move on, he’s sure to add another $100 million+ to that total. There are the greed factor.
Dubois asks for retirement
“Fury has had an amazing career. I think it’s time for him to call it a day,” said Daniel Dubois Second saltwho reacts to a very nice Tyson Fury getting beaten again by Oleksandr Usyk last Saturday night.
It would be great if Dubois could dispatch Tyson in style by fighting him. This will allow the young talent to use the old lion to increase his star power. If the Gypsy King wanted to be helpful, he would allow Dubois to take his scalp.
Fury’s fans were in denial about his loss, thinking he had done enough to deserve the win. They mock themselves. He lost, and he looked terrible the whole time. He was pummeled by Usyk with three-press combos when he tried to knock him down late in the fight and did little else.
It’s been YEARS since Fury has beaten a semi-decent fighter. The last guy with an ounce of talent to beat the Gypsy King is Deontay Wilder in their trilogy match on October 9, 2021. That win is very shaky as many believe Fury is a long count in the fourth round when he was dropped. Deontay is not a great fighter, but this is Fury’s best win in the last three years.
That’s all smoke and mirrors with Fury for years, with him being a subpar fighter, and his gullible fans have lapped it up and believe he is the best. He’s been pulling the wool over their eyes for the last 14 years of his career, and they’re none the wiser.
