Caleb Plant says he will fight Jermall Charlo next if it is offered to him after his loss of Armando Resendiz (16-2, 11 COs) Saturday night in Las Vegas. Plant (23-3, 14 food) mentions that it has a rematch clause with resendiz.
Plant’s record is now 2-3 in its last five fights, and fans say he is ‘washed’. It’s hard not to agree. If a fighter loses three out of his previous five battles, it’s just clear that they’re over the hill. The only two plant wins came against lower career contender Trevor McCumby and 39-year-old Anthony Dirrell.
Plant’s ambivalent rematch attitude
Says he, “I’m more than willing to ruin it back” with him. The way Caleb said this sounded less than convincing, making it clear that he was not excited about the idea of fighting Resendiz, 26, after losing to him by a 12-round decision at the Michelob Ultra Arena in Las Vegas.
If a fighter is motivated to avenge their defeat, they do not say, as plant did, “I’m more than willing.” He claims to do as if he would do Resendiz a favor by fighting against him again. This indicates that plant does not want to fight against him again and prefers to stand next to Jermall Charlo.
Plant lost its WBA -Tussentage Super -Middelweight title, which was a trinket he hoped to use to get a rematch with Canelo Alvarez as part of his ‘revenge tour’ narrative.
The scores
116-112: Resendiz
115-113: Plant
116-112: Resendiz
Plant blame injured hand
After the fight, plant claimed to have competed with an injured right hand. It sounded like he was using it as an excuse for his loss, who found fans on social media pathetic.
Plant says he thinks he earned the victory. He mentions that he led himself 5-1 after six rounds, which is the opposite of how fans saw it. Resendiz dominated the first half of the fight and got the plant better in the round 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6. The only round Caleb won was round 1, and that was because Resendiz didn’t throw many blows.
“I would go to the Charlo fight right awayBut we have a rematch clause. I am more than willing to run it back immediately, ”Caleb plant at the Press conference after battle Saturday night after his loss, which sounds ambivalent about who he wants to fight next, between his conqueror, Armando Resendiz or Jermall Charlo.
It sounds like plant has decided that it wants to fight next against Jermall, rather than a re -broadcast with Resendiz. Charlo (34-0, 23 COs) did its part on Saturday night and achieved a sixth round technical knockout from Thomas Lamanna (39-6-1, 18).
“Yes, absolutely,” Plant said when asked if he would be willing to go straight in a Jermall Charle battle if it was offered to him. I will group with my team and see what the next is. I am not easily discouraged. ‘
If you are PBC, you may not be too excited about the idea of fighting between plant and Jermall after what happened tonight. This is not the ideal time to set up a battle between plant and Charlo now.
“I feel like I put my stitch on him, used the whole ring and turned directions, stitched me up and down and used Feints. I didn’t use my right hand as much as I wanted. It bothered me kind of”Says Plant.
If fighters start to blame their hand for a loss, fans automatically suspect that they have cooked an excuse, and they do not want to take responsibility for possessing their loss. If Caleb wants fans to believe his hand apologies, he will need a doctor’s note and some X-rays.
Plant’s misleading battle claims
I feel like I won the first five of the six, “Plant said, and he fooled.” I felt like I could pull two on the road. It’s 7-5 there.
It didn’t look like planting. I had it 9-3 for resendiz. It could have been even more unilateral than that.
