Butch Harmon says he knows how he would curb the slow game.
At least for most players.
“The old story years ago,” he said, “Ben Hogan He was very slow and he is playing in open SH.BA. I think maybe it was even the first or second round. And Joe Dye was the head of the USA and they went out and told Mr. Hogan, if you do not speed, we will have to penalize two shots.
“He says. Give me two shots now, so I’ve got more holes, I know how many birds I have to do because I’m not speeding out.”
Still, Harmony believes in his opinion. “I told Tommy, did it bother you how slow – I said, I know you were in the 11th hole; I saw them coming to take you,” he said. “But you guys fought in that 8th hole forever because they both had rules and so they split up. He goes, you know, the boy is slow, but I wouldn’t let him bother me.
