Before each one of the Formula One, celebrities and VIP around the world are invited to the network in the moments that came to light: a tradition that becomes a time that becomes a key part of the race day show.
But with this privilege, there is an unwritten (but sacred) rule: If you are on the network, wait for you to talk to journalists when you approach.
Not everyone follows this rule, and the star of Arsenal and England, Bukayo Saka, was the last one who came out unintentionally.
In front of the Spanish Grand Prix in Barcelona, Saka was located on the network with the teammates of England, Ebeechi Eze and Trevoh Chalobah, when the presenter of Sky Sports F1, Simon Lazenby, approached him with a simple question: “Who are you supporting today?”
Saka’s response? “There is not much to say.” Lazenby quickly passed.
But nearby, he was the 2016 F1 world champion, Nico Rosberg, who seemed less impressed by Saka’s reluctance to participate.
“This was not very kind,” said Rosberg, before directing his attention to Newcastle Ombudsman Dan Burn, who was much more speaking.
It is a good thing that Saka did not snatch on Martin Brundle, who usually runs the Paseo de la Xarxa and is well known for his ingenious paids. Ask Pep Guardiola, who gave Brundle the cold shoulder to the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix of 2022, saying that he had already spoken to Sky twice that day.
Since safety was gently escorted to Brundle, he left out: “It’s OK. I’ve been expelled from better places than this.”
Classic Brundle, and a reminder that if you go for a walk on the net, you will better be ready for the microphone.
