Terence Crawford did not waste time after becoming in Australia. Within hours, he predicted how a struggle with Tim Tszyu would end (“I feel like I would have beaten him”), admitted he didn’t know that Tszyu was the son of Kostya, declaring his upcoming $ 200 million show with Canelo Alvarez, who could break every record in the book – including maypacs.
In a seat with Fox Sports AustraliaCrawford spoke openly about legacy, the tszyus, piracy and what he believes is the greatest of all time – and Spoiler: it’s not himself.
When asked how a struggle with Tim would have gone?
“I feel like I would have beaten him,” Crawford says flat. “It’s boxing, so you never know. But of course I’m going to have confidence in my ability. ‘
“I actually didn’t know that Tim was initially his son.”
Crawford confirmed that Tim Tszyu was on his radar before the end of 2023, when Tszyu still held the WBO Super Welterweight title. But he also revealed that he only made the family connection much later.
“I actually didn’t know that Tim was initially his son,” Crawford acknowledged. “It’s all about my head. I think, because you never see Kostya in the corner or anything. ‘
“But when Tim started fighting in the United States, it was when people started talking that his father was …”
And when it comes to Kostya Tszyu itself?
“Kostya Tszyu, he was a big fighter. Great Puncher. I remember watching his fight against Zab Judah. And fighting on the way to the one … He is someone who has always been very well respected in the boxing sports. ‘
The two have even recently crossed roads:
“And Kosstya and I, we recently met at a boxing event. It was in Dubai, I think, and we got a picture together. “
“If it sets on fire … it can certainly surpass Mayweather-Pacquiao.”
If he looks forward, Crawford confirmed that his battle with Canelo Alvarez has been set up Las Vegas this SeptemberAnd say the interests cannot be higher – or more historically.
“I feel that if it catches fire, the supporters of the supporters can certainly do the large numbers needed to surpass the great Mayweather-Pacquiao battle.”
Then, with a smile, he adds:
“It just depends on how many people want to steal it with piracy.”
If he wins, Crawford would become the first male fighter in the Four Rand era Unpaid in three weight classes.
“Getting my fees would be a beautiful thing.”
The boxing legend Oscar de la Hoya suggested a win over Canelo Crawford above even Muhammad Ali and Sugar Ray Robinson. Crawford did not protest – but remained grounded.
“It makes me feel good because I’ve been working hard on this sport for a long time,” He said. “Getting my fees would be a beautiful thing.”
Asked who he Consider the greatest of all time?
“Muhammad Ali” Crawford answers without break.
“I know a lot of people got Sugar Ray Robinson, but of course I haven’t seen much of him, just because of how far it was back that he fought. I do know that those who see him fight say that he is the greatest of all time. But for me it’s Muhammad Ali. ‘
“Not only his successes in the ring, but also what he stood for. Just his position on human rights, stand up for his people … There are not many people doing it. He does all the things he did go to jail for not wanting to fight against people who did not harm him … Muhammad Ali was a stand -up -old. “
“I’m fine … ready for everything people throw in front of me.”
Crawford has started its Australian tour in Queensland and will continue through Melbourne and Sydney. He pulls off Jet’s proposal.
“I’m fine … ready for everything people throw in front of me.”
With Opetaia, Paro, Kambosos, Wilson and Tszyu all entering big battles between now and July, Crawford’s timing is appropriate – and his presence is a warning shot for every big name in the game.
Because when asked to increase his chances in any section, Crawford does not turn it.
“I feel like I would have beaten him.”
