Bruce Carrington says he is on the “Brink of a World Title Shot” on his way to his 12-round fought for the WBC Tus-Time Featherweight title against Mateus Heita on Saturday, July 26 at the Madison Square Garden Theater in New York.
Carrington (15-0, 9 COs) is irritated that none of the champions in the 126-pound division show interest in fighting him. At 28, he is not young for a contender who does not yet have to fight for a world title. He can’t afford to wait much longer because he seems to be struggling to reach the 126 -pound limit.
Weight -cut battle
This week, Carrington drain looked like the weight of today’s weigh-in for the Heita fight. You can see from his appearance that it was taken out a lot and cut the last few pounds. It is clear that Carrington must move to 130 (Super Featherweight) soon.
“I’m at the point of a world title event, and I’m going to kick off the door with this performance,” Bruce Carrington said Fighting typeTalk about his fight against Mateus Heita on Saturday. ‘Most of these guys are relatively new champions. So they want the (featherweight title) milk. It’s a smart business housing, but you stop my money.
Saturday’s Carrington against Heita fight is for the WBC -Tussentage Featherweight title. If Carrington can capture that belt, he has a chance that the WBC finally ordered the title collision between him and champion Stephen Fulton. Unlike that, Carrington will be ignored and avoided by the four belt containers in the section. He is too dangerous for his own good, and not popular enough to see the risk associated with the struggle of him.
“He who slaps there has given me the extra fuel I need to get in there and have an even more aggressive mentality,” says Carrington. “It’s going to be something for the fans to look at.”
Heita’s threat
Heita is not known to say if he is good. The WBC lets him be arranged on #11, but it is the only sanction body that has him in their top -15. This is generally a sign that Heita is not considered a good talent. It might not matter. If he can’t hit and is aggressive, he has the chance to beat Carrington.
“I added some deep-sea workouts. Right now, I think my endurance is wonderful.
Segawa Fight Impact
With the help of deep sea, breathing exercises won’t do much for Carrington, 26, if he can’t fight better than he did against Sulaiman Segawa last September. He was plugged out by Segawa and lost the fight in the eyes of many boxing fans. The judges gave Carrington a controversial majority decision of ten round against the Ugandan Segawa, but he looked like the loser. At best, the fight must have been a draw.
What we saw in the Carrington-Segawa fight is that Carrington is struggling when he faces an aggressive fighter who goes to him and has decent power. On Saturday, Heita will put a lot of pressure on Carrington, and it could be a problem for the New Yorker if he hasn’t improved since the Segawa fight.
