The gulls entered the international break of March as one of the forms of form of division, but have seen their hopes of setting European football for the next season in the last two weeks. After leaving the FA CUP for penalties in Nottingham Forest, they have suffered defeats to Aston Villa and Crystal Palace to the A23 derby.
Fabian Hurzeler’s side was considered dark horses for five first places a month ago, but now they are the ninth and six points of Newcastle in fifth. A victory here could return to the court and are expected to do so against a Leicester team who lost the eighth game of the Premier League in the rebound without scoring on Monday night.
Newcastle advanced 2-0 to King Power Stadium and chose to inflict more misery in the second half after Leicester’s former Winger, Harvey Barnes, put them 3-0 before the interval. The Ruud Van Nistelrooy side has been stuck to 17 points for two months and the relegation is closed.
