Arsenal are about to do it Brentford striker Bryan Mbeumo one of his main transfer targets in the coming months.
The Cameroon international has been in great form in the Premier League this season, contributing a total of 13 goals and three assists so far, and it would be no surprise to see him linked with bigger clubs.
This is not the first time that Mbeumo has been linked with Arsenalbut there has been a new update on the situation since Florian Plettenberg, Sky Germany journalist to his official account at X.
Ian Wright fires off a MAJOR transfer warning at Arsenal!
Arsenal certainly need someone this January due to Bukayo Saka’s recent injury, while Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus have long looked like they probably aren’t good enough to be regulars alongside Mikel Arteta.
There is a real lack of a prolific goalscorer in this Gunners squad, and Mbeumo could be ideal to give them a bit more spark and a bit more threat from outside.
No doubt there will be plenty of fans looking last minute tickets for Arsenal vs Manchester United this weekend, but after watching the defeat to Newcastle there may be some who are much more pessimistic about what they will see from their team until a top-class signing arrives up front.
The transfer of Bryan Mbeumo seems ideal for Arsenal’s needs
Mbeumo hasn’t played for a top-flight club before, so Arsenal may be a step too far for him, but it’s hard to ignore how well he’s played this season.
Some comparisons have been made to Sadio Mane, who was also a bit of a latecomer but also looked too good to be playing for a mid-table side like Southampton before Liverpool finally snapped him up.
It would be a stretch to ask Mbeumo to go to Arsenal and replicate what Mane did for Liverpool, but he is the type of signing profile the north Londoners seem to need.
Arsenal’s goalscoring woes were on display last night in that 2-0 defeat at home to Newcastle, who in the end were more clinical than the home side, with Alexander Isak scoring against the club who ‘has bonded so strongly. with him in recent months.
Mbeumo may not be in Isak’s league, but he would certainly improve this struggling Arsenal side, and many fans will be hoping they don’t leave this deal until the summer.
