The 46-year-old Manny Pacquiao (62-8-3, 39 COs) looked impressive for a fighter at his age, and struggled to a 12-round majority stretch against WBC welterweight champion Mario Barrios (29-2-2, 18 CO’s) in the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. The scores are 114-114, 114-114 and 115-113 for Barrios.
What made Pacquiao look so good was how bad Barrios looked. He fought badly, did not throw, and it seemed as if he had put in many of the rounds of minimal effort. It seemed like he didn’t even try, and many fans were suspicious during and after the fight.
Pacquiao’s reflexes were shot, movement nowhere near that OT was once. And look very old. It was Barrios who threw poor Jabs and put no energy in his shots.
It was as if he was suppressed by gravity, which prevented his arms from throwing bumps, and it looked fishy. Any welter weight in the top 15 would have celebrated on Pacquiao with what he looked like tonight.
The draw means that Pacquiao has failed in his efforts to win the WBC title of Barrios. It ruins Manny’s plans to use the WBC title as a lure to 48-year-old Floyd Mayweather Jr. To get out of the pension to fight against him.
