Welterweight Oliver ‘El Monaguillo’ Quintana was knocked out by Julio ‘Canelito’ Luna in the fifth round in the main event on Saturday night on ESPN+ at the Naucalpan, Mexico.
Luna (23-1-2, 13 KOs) stopped Quintana (21-3, 16 KOs) at 1:34 of the fifth round of a scheduled ten-rounder.
In the first round, the taller Luna used his reach with his jab to take the round. In the second and third rounds, Quintana’s punches seem to fall short and land all the way to Luna.
In the fourth’s final seconds, Luna had Quintana in trouble with a left to the chin. In the fifth round, a left to the temple from Luna and down Quintana went for the count.
Alejandro ‘Pajaro’ Davila (23-6-2, 9 KOs) lost to Leonardo Ruiz (15-0, 8 KOs) by ten round decision in the co-feature super welterweight.
In the first three rounds, Davila mounted a steady attack to the body, taking all three rounds. In the fourth and fifth rounds, Ruiz also attacked the body and drove Davila to the ropes.
In the sixth round, Ruiz began using the ring with little offense, trying to reserve his energy already or for a strong finish, and gave up the round.
In the seventh round, Ruiz came out with punches after taking the previous round. Davila’s right eye was closed. In the eighth round, Davila countered well using the ring, and Ruiz followed him.
In the ninth round, Davila slipped to the canvas twice due to water not being removed. He gave the finish to Ruiz, who was looking for a strong finish. In the tenth and final round, Davila Ruiz had the whole round against the ropes.
The scores were 98-93, 99-91 and 100-90.
Super welterweight Rafael ‘Papitas’ Bautista (5-2-1, 2 KOs) lost to Jesus ‘Descarmador Luis Fernando’ Pina (24-8-1, 18 KOs) over six rounds.
In the first three rounds, Pina was the aggressor and took all three rounds. Pina kept the pressure on Bautista from the fourth to the sixth and produced an elimination.
The scores were 60-54, 60-54 and 60-54.
Feather Sara Carmona (8-1, 3 KOs) lost to southpaw Camilla Panatta (7-1-1, 3 KOs) over 8×2 rounds.
In the first three rounds it was even, with Panatta having an edge. In the fourth round, Carmona came out more aggressive and took the round.
From the fifth to the seventh rounds, Carmona used straights against the southpaw Panatta, who took her out of the country as she took the rounds. Half a minute into the eighth and final round, Panatta landed a solid right hook on the chin of Carmona.

Bantam Joel ‘El Trino’ Cordova (14-9-2, 13 KOs) by majority decision over Ernesto Salcedo (15-5, 12 KOs) over eight rounds.
There was a lot of action in the first round and no feeling. In the second and third rounds, Salcedo’s face began to swell under the eyes from both Cordova’s punches and heads.
In the fourth round, Cordova switches to southpaw and back, working on the right side of Salcedo’s face and trying to close that right eye. Salcedo is willing to continue mixing it up.
In the fifth round, Cordova took Salcedo by storm in the first minute. Cordova seconds later was hit low and got a short break. Salcedo stormed Cordova into the ropes in the final seconds.
In the sixth round’s final minute, Salcedo made Cordova hold.
In the seventh round, Cordova drew blood from Salcedo’s nose. He was knocked down several times without a point. In the eighth and final round, with a minute left, Salcedo took Cordova down again and ended up losing a point. With twenty seconds left, another point was taken from Salcedo for a low blow.
Scores were 77-73, 75-75 and 78-72.

Light southpaw Francisco Lopez (6-3, 3 KOs) lost over 6 rounds to Ariel Gonzalez Vazquez (5-2-3, 2 KOs), with Lopez only scoring a knockdown.
In the first two rounds, Lopez had a slight edge as he was the more aggressive fighter. In the third round, Lopez dropped Gonzales with a right to the chin for an 8 count. In the fourth round, Gonzalez came back well with lead rights to the chin.
In the fourth round, Gonzalez rocked Lopez with a left hook to the chin in the last minute. In the fifth round, Lopez dropped Gonzalez for an 8 count with a right to the chin.
The scores were 58-55, 58-55 and 58-56.
