Mickey Bey reminded everyone that he’s not done yet. In the main meeting of Swift Promotions’ The Future is Now: Series II “card in Newtown, Pennsylvania, the former world champion in just three rounds of Oscar Escandon hammered in the submission.
Bey (26-3-1, 14 CO’s) has fast, fast and locked. Escandon (27-10, 18 COs) never got started-a clean left hook opened a cut early, and by the end of the one it was clear who the sharper man was. Bey dropped him at the end of the round and halfway through third place, forcing referee Eric Dali to blow it off at 2:03.
“I didn’t want to chase it,” Bey said after that. “I let my body do what I trained for.”
He calls himself the ‘time machine’, and for once, a fighter who uses the nickname actually means that. The 40-year-old man has shown that he still has enough in the tank for another big name fight-off two. If you thought it was a farewell tour, think again.
Garcia flat another, Kuchmenov and Gonzalez Cruise, Rodriguez Returns
The bottom map was loaded with young, violent talent.
David Garcia, 16 years old and who is already fighting like a veterinarian, has not wasted time. He fluttered Mma Crossover Marcelino and stopped him from the first round with a merciless finish at 2:53. Four fights in, and Garcia already looks like one of the best prospects in the country.
Kuchmenov? A monster. The Russian Super Feather Weight of 5’10 “walked down for six-sided rounds in Diuhl Olguin. Each punch landed as it was personal. Olguin did not answer the bell for round seven-and no one blamed him. Judges had 60-54 all over the plate.
The 18-year-old Elijah “Macho” Gonzalez ended up one of the cleanest right hands of the night. He stopped Codi Chavez in the fourth round after dropping him twice. Gonzalez chose with bad intentions – the kind that quickly noticed you.
Jonathan Rodriguez returned from almost a year and banked eight safe rounds about Jesus Martinez. Not spectacular, but solid. The 80-72, 80-72 and 79-73 cards reflect total control. He got the job.
Thanjhae Teasley remained unbeaten with a dominant six-round whip of Nelson morales. To the left of the body did most of the damage, but morales, as usual, would not fold. Reviewers gave it to Teasley Clean: 60-54 all around.
Litter Dunbar jr. Opened the show with a four -round wide win over Denzel Bowling. Solid debut. Clean box, good pace and smart body work in the rack.
