Boxing results: Keith Thurman Stop Jarvis with power and decrease in Sydney

Keith Thurman (31-1, 23 costs) made his successful return to the ring on Wednesday night in Hordern Pavilion, Sydney, Sydney, Sydney, Sydney, Sydney, Sydney, Sydney, Sydney, Sydney, Sydney, his successful return to the ring (22-2, 20 COs).

Former WBC and WBO swelling champion Thurman, 36, dropped Jarvis twice in the third round with big shots on the head. Referee Will Soulos stopped the fight to the second knockout. The official time of the downtime was at 2:19 of the round.

On the first knockout, “once” ended up a right hand at the head of Jarvis who put him down hard. He hit the score when he got up again, but looked in a bad shape when the action started again.

Keith then did the killing, dropped off on Jarvis and flattened him with a left hook to the head. Referee Soulos stopped the fight immediately because Brock did not get up from this knockout.

In the first round, Thurman threw almost nothing and moved around the ring and tried to stay outside the younger, more powerful 27-year-old Jarvis. In the middle of the round, Jarvis Thurman rushed and nailed him repeatedly powerful body photos that clearly bothered the outdated former welterweight champion.

Jarvis loads on a left hook that Thurman’s head barely missed in the closing seconds of the round. It was a shot that would have done harm if it was linked.

Thurman landed two loud body shots in round two that got Jarvis’s attention, and he seems to have hurt him a little. The Aussie looked for the time being after being beaten with those blows, and was not as aggressive as in the previous round.

Still, Keith didn’t do much to separate himself from the harder shots Brock beat him. You can see the big difference in the youth between the two in this round. Thurman looked like a much older person.

In round three, Thurman Jarvis chased the ring and threw powerful but very slow right hands and left brackets. “Once” Jarvis trapped against the ropes and landed a perfectly placed right hand to put him hard on the canvas. Surprisingly, Brock rose from the Knockdown again, but he looked in no condition to still fight. Thurman went behind him and completed the work with a left hook that laid him out on the canvas.

Speeds lost

The fight was Thurman’s first in more than three years since February 5, 2022, and he looked significantly slower than he had in his last competition against Mario Barrios that year. Thurman has a lot out of his game in terms of hand speed and mobility from then on, which will not return.

With this victory over Jarvis, Thurman is expected to face former WBO junior middleweight champion Tim Tszyu in Australia. Tszyu lost his last two battles and came from an evil loss of the third round against IBF champion Bakhram Murtazaliev.

You should prefer Tszyu over Thurman in that battle because of what slow and old Keith looked like tonight. The lack of speed and work rate would put Thurman at the grace of almost any top 15 junior middleweight. He lost too much of his game to beat any top level of 154 pounds. Based on his actions tonight, I can’t think of any significant contender that Thurman can defeat.
