Heavyweight Jared Anderson (17-1, 15 COs) survived a late frightening to win a unanimous decision of 10 round about Marios Collias (12-4-1, 10 cost) in his Comeback match in Madison Square Garden Theater in New York.

Anderson, 25, mostly controlled the fight with his sting and right hand against Collias. In the final seconds of the tenth, however, Collias came to life and threw a wave of shots at Anderson’s head that made him shake while the clock sounded to end the fight.
Although Anderson achieved victory, it was more a loss. He looked tired and out of the shape, it seemed like he didn’t want to be there tonight. It was a bad look by a man who didn’t have to do it to him.
Top Rank will have to decide what they want to do with Jared, because he doesn’t seem to have improved, as his knockout loss was to Martin Bakole last summer. The way Anderson fought tonight, he lost to most of the top 15 heavyweights.
The scores
99-91
99-91
98-92
It was not the kind of performance that Anderson needed to show the fans that he had returned from his fifth round loss to Martin Bakole in his previous fight on August 3. Anderson struck through the battle by Collias, who sat traps and landed big blows. His problem was that he did not throw enough and that Anderson could control the rounds.
