Boxing results: Gary Antuanne Russell’s dominant show: Unsats Jose ‘Rayo’ Valenzuela for WBA Light Welterweight title

Gary Antuanne Russell (18-1, 17 COs) looked like pure gold on Saturday night, with WBA lights Welterweight Champion Jose ‘Rayo’ Valenzuela (14-3, 9 COs), and a surprisingly easy unanimous 12-round decision in their fellow Barclays Center, New York.

The compulsory challenger Russell had no respect for champion Rayo Valenzuela’s punching power, and pushed him all night and landed big blows to the head and body. Gary Antuanne’s hand speed and punch advantage were a clear factor, as it allowed him to fire shots back when Rayo tried to throw.

The scores

119-109
119-109
120-108

The ninth round crushed both of Valenzuela’s eyes, and he defeated spiritually. However, he constantly fought back and caught Russell with big shots in the championships. Russell was reckless with his attacks in the 11th and 12th and walked in bumps that would have beaten over a house.

In the last 30 seconds of the 12th, Valenzuela Gary Antuanne caught a right hand sent out his mouthpiece. He continued to hammer him with powerful right hands to the final clock. I don’t know how Russell stayed on his feet.
