Super-middleweight David Stevens (14-2, 10s) defeated the previously unbeaten Russia’s Petr Khamukov (13-1, 6 COs) with a unanimous decision of 10 round Friday in the Thunder Studios in Long Beach, California.
In the first two rounds, Stevens surpassed Khamukov. In the last minute of the third round, Khamukov Stevens shocked and held him. In the fourth and fifth rounds, Stevens returned well enough to win both rounds.
In the last minute of the sixth round, Stevens’ mouthpiece went out. Referee Ray Corona tried to put the mouthpiece back in Khamukov’s mouth until he pointed to Stevens. Corona, without flushing it, gave it to Stevens. In the last minute of the eighth round, Khamukov Stevens numbed a solid stitch on the chin.
In the ninth round’s final seconds, Khamukov drove Stevens in the ropes and took the round. In the tenth and last round, it went back and forth with many blows in a close finish.
The scores were 97-93, 97-93 and 97-93.
In the co-function, super welterweight Leonardo Ruiz (16-1, 8 COs) defeated Jarrod Tennant (9-5, 4 COs) with a unanimous eight-round decision.
In the first round, 40-year-old Tennant Ruiz surpassed. In the second by the fifth rounds, Ruiz returned to take all close rounds.
In the sixth and seventh rounds, Ruiz dominated. In the eighth and final round, as hard as he tried, Ruiz couldn’t put Tennant away and had him in trouble throughout.
The judges’ scores were 80-72, 80-72 and 79-73. The referee was Jerry Cantu.
Welterweight Juan ‘El Negro’ Sanchez (9-0, 8 cost) Southpaw Yeis ‘El Tigre’ Gabriel Solano (15-6, 10 costs) stopped at 2:50 of the third round and scored four knockouts of a scheduled six rounds.
In the first rounds, at the last minute, Sanchez landed a right on the chin and dropped Solano for an 8 scores by referee Ray Corona. In the last minute of the second round, Sanchez landed a right-hand cup on the chin and dropped Solano for another 8 scores.
In the third round, after a minute, a flurry of Sanchez on the chin dropped a third time Solano. With a minute left, another flurry of the kinks and down Solano a fourth time. With ten seconds left, referee Corona finally brought a standstill, with Sanchez doing well.
Super lightweight Leonardo Rubalcava (9-1-1, 3 COs) lost a split decision to Dorian Mendez (6-0, 2 COs) in an action-packed fight.
In the first round, Mendez constantly came forward with Rubalcava. In the last minute, Rubalcava landed a right on the chin and took a step back. In the second round, halfway through, Mendez Southpot turns into another Slugfest. In the third and fourth rounds, they went from toes to toe in the middle of the ring, with Rubalcava with an edge.
In the fifth round, halfway through, Rubalcava drew blood from the mouth of Mendez. In the sixth and final round, the action continued. In the last minute, Mendez landed on the chin of Rubalcava and shocked him, but he came back to the bell.
The scores were 59-55 for Mendez, 59-55 for Rubalcava and 59-55 for Mendez. Jerry Cantu was the referee.
Welterweight Daniel Cruz (10-0, 3 COs) defeated Sachin Rohila (8-4, 2 COs) with a unanimous six-round decision.
The first three rounds were near, with Cruz before, from Orthodox to Southpaw and back.
In the fourth and fifth rounds it went back and forth, with Cruz swollen under his right eye. In the sixth and final round, both dragged it right to the bell, with Cruz looking like the winner.
The scores were 60-54, 59-55 and 59-55. Ray Corona was the referee.
Bantamweight Alexis Alvarado (8-1, 5 food) defeated Jose Silva Gonzalez (5-0-1, 4 COs) with a unanimous four-round decision.
In the first two rounds it was full of action, with Gonzalez starting South Poot and switching back and forth. Alvarado had a slight lead. In the last minute of the third round, Alvarado Gonzalez dropped a right hand in the corner for an 8 scores by referee Ray Corona, who took a while before continuing. In the fourth and final round, Gonzalez returned well enough to keep his own, although he was exceeded by Alvarado.
The scores were 40-35, 40-35 and 39-36.
Featherweights Emiliano Alvarado (8-0, 5 food) beat Antonio Miss (2-2) through a unanimous four-round decision. In the first round, it was an all-action round with less than a minute to go, Alvarado shook Miss Miss with a right to the chin. In the second and third rounds it went back and forth in a real slugfest.
In the fourth and final round, in the final thirty seconds, referee Jerry Cantu took a point of Miss for a low blow after several warnings earlier in the fight.
The scores were 39-36, 39-36 and 38-37.
