Boxing results: crushed and battered: Chris Billiam-Smith overcomes relentless Brandon Glanton in a razor-thin decision in Tottenham Hotspur Stadium

The bruised and battered former WBO Cruiserweight champion Chris Billiam-Smith (21-2, 13 CO’s) violated the tough American Brandon Glanton (20-3, 13 COs), and defeated him with a unanimous 12-round decision in London in London. This battle must have been the co-function on tonight’s map, because on paper it was a better battle than the other.

Early touch

Glanton, 33, stayed on top of Billiam-Smith early in the fight and connected to the head and body of the former champion with short blows. Glanton’s physical power bothered Billiam-Smith because he was not strong enough to handle his wrestling tactics.

Already in the first round, Chris looked exhausted, as if he had a whole battle, and his eyes tore from the hard blows. I went 4-2 after six rounds of glanton. He knocked the filling out of Billiam-Smith and did not allow him to land as he wanted.

The scores were 116-113, 116-112 and 116-112. I had it for Billiam-Smith 115-113. He won, but just rare. Glanton’s pressure and hard push was a pure nightmare for him, especially in the 12th round when he went on the knockout. He had the former champion flight and tried to survive.

In fifth place, glanton was marked with a right that turned his head. He seemed to be at risk of going down, but he stayed in some way. Billiam-Smith returned strongly in the sixth round and nailed glanton with a right hand, causing him to lose his foot for a moment. It is unclear whether it comes from the punch or the smooth ring. Either way, it was a hard shot Billiam-Smith beat him.

Billiam-Smith looked like he took the action in rounds 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11. Glanton took most of the first six and then returned strongly in the twelve round and landed the much more difficult shots against a tired Billiam Smith.

Not convincing

It was not the kind of performance Billiam-Smith needed to show that he had returned from his loss of Gilberto ‘Zurdo’ Ramirez in November last year. He looked like he was on his way early tonight to be knocked out by Glanton, and it seems he lost most of the first six.
