Terence Crawford (42-0, 31 CO’s) used constant movement and set shots to win a narrow 12-round decision on the undisputed super-middleweight champion Canelo Alvarez (63-3-3, 39 COs) in their Las Vegas legacy.
It was the exact struggle that many fans of the Omaha, Nebraska native Crawford, predicted, while moving a lot in each round, Kned Halter and prevented Canelo from coming to him. The Mexican star was the aggressor throughout and landed many body shots when he would close the distance on Crawford.
In sixth place, Crawford probably had his best round when he landed a left hand that caught Canelo. That was all that Crawford did around, but it was enough to win it, because he used movement to keep out the rest of the time to stop Canelo from coming to him.
It was a strategy that Terence used during most of the fight. He landed a good shot and then used movement to stop the rest of the round so that the only good shot was his. This is called Keep Away.
The judges’ scores
After the fight, Crawford, 37, was not attached to whether he would be interested in a re -broadcast with Canelo when asked. He said he was going to talk to his team to decide whether he was going to fight Canelo or anyone. It will probably also amount to what Turki Alalshikh wants to do. He paid both fighters a lot of money for this battle.
“If we do it again, it will be great. I give the credit to Crawford. I feel wonderful, ”Canelo said of whether he would be open again to fight Crawford.
It is difficult to suggest that Crawford agrees to a second fight with Canelo unless he gets a salary increase of the $ 50 million he made tonight. Turki will have to decide whether it is worth paying for a second fight. It was not the most pleasant to look at. Compared to the under map collision between Christian Mbilli and Lester Martinez, it was dull.
Canelo said he was interested in fighting again against Crawford. Again, that will amount to what Turki wants to do. There are more exciting fights that Turki can feed with some fighter. For Crawford, you have to move in with someone who cuts off the ring and throws many bumps. Canelo did not do a good job of it tonight.
These fighters would be ideal for Crawford:
- David benavidez
- Artur Betterbiev
- David Morrell
- Osleys Iglesias
