Boxing results: Controversial cuts lead to unconvincing victory: Emanuel Navarrete makes technical decision on Suarez in disappointing main event


WBO World Junior Lightweight Champion Emanuel ‘Vaquero’ Navarrate (40-2-1, 32 food) won an eight round technical decision on Charley Suarez (18-1, 10 COs) on Saturday night in Pechanga Arena in San Diego, California. The Ringarts stopped the fight one second in the eighth round due to a cut that Navarrete suffered over his left eye from a head bud in round six. The time of the downtime was 00: 1 of round eight.

In the first round, Navarrate, which took six times to gain weight, surpassed Suarez, which ended the round with a bloody mouth. Navarrate had Suarez in trouble with a wave of pushing in the last minute of the fourth round.

In the fifth round, Navarrate landed numerous capital letters on Suarez’s chin. In the sixth round, Navarrate received a nasty cut over his left eyebrow due to a casual clash of heads, causing blood to cover his face for the entire round. Navarrate wiped the entire round. At the end of the round, he had Suarez in trouble.

In the seventh round, Suarez Navarrate with mostly pushed to the cut. Referee Edward Collantes called in the ringarts to check the cut to the round and notify the referee to stop. They twice in favor of Navarrate with 78-75, 77-76, and the stoppage 00: 1 of the eighth round decided a technical decision.

In the Co-Main event, NABF and WBO Nabo Lightweight Champ Ray ‘Danger’ Muratalla, 23-0 (17) the WBO no. 2-contender Zaur Abdullaev, 20-2 (12) defeated, with a unanimous 12 round decision to win the interim IBF lightweight title.

In the second round, Muratalla ended up a right on the chin of Abdullaev who stunned him in the first minute. In the third round, Abdullaev Muratalla surpassed, although few blows were landed by any boxer.

From the seventh to the ninth rounds, Muratalla exceeded Abdullaev. Muratalla took his way to win both in the tenth and eleventh rounds. In the twelfth and final round, Muratalla turned Southpoot and exceeded Abdullaev. Abdullaev’s face seemed to walk in at the end of a fan.

Scores 118-110, 119-109 and 119-109. The referee was Thomas Taylor.

Super Featherweight Andres Cortes, 23-0 (12), beat Salvadore ‘Salvi’ Jimenez, 14-2-1 (6), easily through a boring unanimous decision of 10 round.

In the first four rounds, it was all Cortes with little violation of Jimenez, who fought from a shell, allowing Cortes to go to the body with left brackets.

In the sixth round, Jimenez finally started throwing push, though not enough to win his first round. In the ninth round, Cortés continued to win another round. In the tenth and last round, it was all Cortes while Jimenez ended up the last punch and started celebrating as he won the fight, let alone another round.

The scores were 99-91 and 100-90, 100-90. Ray Corona was the referee.

Welterweight Southpaw ‘Gallo de Oro’ Giovani Santillan, 34-1 (18), defeated Angel Beltran, 18-3 (11), by an ominous unanimous decision of 10 round.

In the first four rounds, it was the whole Beltran that made Santillan’s nose bleed out of the third round. In the fifth round, Santillan finally did enough to Outland Beltran.

In the last minute of the sixth round, Santillan ended up half a dozen Lefts to Beltran’s chin. In the seventh and eighth rounds, Beltran had a backup for the most part.

In the ninth round, Beltran again takes a round with his hand speed for the most part. In the tenth and last round, under a minute, a low hold of Santillan Beltran dropped. It was a close round in a close fight. The scores were 97-93, 97-93 and 97-93. The referee was Thomas Taylor.

Super Bantamweight Sebastian ‘Logan’ Hernandez, 20-0 (18), beat Azat ‘Crazy a’ Hovhannisyan, 21-6 (17), with a unanimous decision of 10 round.

In the first three rounds, Hernandez had an edge for two rounds, and then Hovhannisyan took the third and turned Southpaw. In the fourth round, Hovhannisyan counteracted a body attack when he was pressed by Hernandez.

In the fifth and sixth rounds, Hernandez used a evil body attack to hurt and back up Hovhannisyan. In the seventh round, Hernandez Hovhannisyan had the ropes to end the fight, when Hovhannisyan returned in the final seconds with a wave of pushing.

In the eighth round, Hernandez again had Hovhannisyan against the ropes with little return. Hovhannisyan has done enough to get through the round. In the ninth round, Hernandez mostly had his way when referee David Solivan took a point of Hovhannisyan to hold.

In the tenth and last round, Hernandez won when Hovhannisyan returned and did enough to take the round. The scores of the judge were 98-91, 98-91 and 98-91.

Lightweight Alan ‘Kid Kansas’ Garcia, 16-1 (11), defeated Cristian ‘Vikingo’ Medina, 8-3-1 (5), by a unanimous eight-round decision.

In the second round, a right of Medina continued in the last minute of Garcia when Medina overturned him to the canvas. In the third round, Garcia came out South Paw, then returned to Orthodox and had an attack on Medina with a good round.

In the fifth round, Garcia had its way until the last half minutes, when Medina ended up an upper cut, injuring Garcia at the bell.

In the seventh round, Medina landed a right cup and opened a flood of blood from the nose of Garcia halfway through the round. In the eighth and last round, it was all Garcia who cut Medina’s left eyebrow in the final seconds with blood flowing along the face to the bell.

The scores were 79-73, 79-73 and 79-73. The referee was Edward Collantes.

Super flyweight Perla Bazaldua, 2-0 (1), easily beat Southpaw Mona Ward, 0-2) through a unanimous four-round decision.

In the first round, Bazaldua had her away with Ward and dropped her head in the final seconds and forced Bazaldua on the canvas. In the second and third rounds it was all Bazaldua. In the fourth and final round, Bazaldua completed another round. The judges’ scores were 40-36, 40-36 and 40-36. Chris Leben was the referee.
