WBO Welterweight Champion Brian Norman jr. (27-0, 21 COs) showed tonight that he might be #1 man in the 147 division with his third round technical knockout victory over Derrieeck Cuevas (27-2-1, 19 COs) in Fontainebleau Las Vegas, Las Vegas.

Norman Jr. Started slowly in the first round and took some large shots of the heavy -handed cuevas. In the second round, Norman jr. Large left brackets and shake cuevas.
Norman jr, jr. Chased Cuevas in the third round and left a large left hook that stunned the challenger. Derriek looked like he wasn’t all there. Norman Jr., 24, then hit him and threw a right hand, followed by a powerful left hook, causing Cuevas to lose his foot and fall on the canvas.
When Cuevas got up, he ignored the referee’s commands to turn and face to show that he was ready to continue. It was as if Cuevas decided he no longer wanted to fight. He walked straight to his corner. Referee Thomas Taylor stopped the fight. The time was 2:59 in the third.
The performance by Norman Jr. Showed that he may now be the best fighter in the Welterweight section and too much for the other champions, Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis, Eimantas Stanionis or Mario Barrios. Norman jr. Have too much power in his shots, and he would use the leaking defense of Ennis to give him problems.
