WBC Super Flyweight Champion Jesse ‘Bam’ Rodriguez (22-0, 15 COs) forced a corner stop of WBO champion Phumelela ‘Cafu (11-1-3, 8 COs) in the tenth round in a unification fight Saturday night in the Ford Center in the Star in Frisco, Texas. Referee Hector Afu stopped the competition at about 2:07 pm from the tenth round.
In the first two rounds, Cafu spent all the time against the ropes that Rodriguez counteracted, who took both rounds. In the third and fourth rounds, Rodriguez continued to Outland Cafu, although he had a mouse under his left eye.
In the fifth and sixth rounds, Rodriguez continued to win all the rounds, while Cafu countered his back against the ropes. In the seventh round, Cafu landed bumps to the body of Rodriguez and took the round. In the ninth round, Rodriguez had his best round and hurt Cafu to the body.
In the last minute of the tenth round, Rodriguez shocked Cafu with a right and almost dropped him, when Rodriguez grabbed him and both went to the canvas – on Rising, the corner of Cafu brought a standby. Hector Afu was the referee.
IBF No. US middleweight champion Southpaw Austin ‘Soldier’ Williams (19-1, 13 cost) stopped Ivan Vazquez (11-1-2, 8 COs) at 0:36 of the ninth round of a scheduled 10 rounds.
In the first round it was all Williams. In the last minute, Vazquez landed a combination. In the second round, Vazquez was hit a minute in the round by a left knob from Williams. In the last minute, Vazquez ended up a right to the chin and got the attention of Williams. Half minute after the third round, Williams landed a low blow, causing referee Mark Calo-You to take a point from him. Vazquez came back and made a battle of it.
In the fourth round, both had their moments in a close battle. In the fifth round, Williams landed a flurry of the push, with Vazquez in a corner halfway around.
In the sixth round, it went back and forth with Williams warned about a low punch. He landed a flurry of bumps in the last minute. Vazquez came back well. In the seventh place, it went back and forth in a competitive battle.
In the ninth round, Williams landed three strokes to the chin and dropped Vazquez for an 8 scores of referee Calo Oo. He hit the score and said he was done. It was his first ten and training for a 6 round when he fought this battle. They haunted years ago and knew each other well. He was exhausted all the low blows he took.
Super Welterweight Pablo ‘Pretty Boy’ Valdez, 10-0 (9) has Robert ‘Houston Hitman’ Redmond, Jr. (8-3-2, 6 food) stopped) at 1:00 of the third round of a scheduled eight rounds. Mark Caloooy was the referee.
2024 Olympic bronze medalist Junior middleweight Omari ‘Banger’ Jones (3-0, 3 food) knocked Alfredo ‘Alfri’ Rodolfo Blanco (24-15, 11 cost) at 1:31 of the third round of a scheduled six rounds.
In the first round, it was all Jones when Blanco turned to a South leg to avoid the bumps. In the final seconds of the second round, Blanco threw a wild to the right when Jones landed a left hook and dropped Blanco for an 8 score of referee Hector Afu.
In the third round, Midway Point, a left hand to the solar power of Jones and Down, went Blanco, who was counted by referee Afu.
Super Welterweight Nishant Dev (3-0, 2 food) stopped Laquan Evans (5-6, 2 COs) in the 6th and final round. Laurence Cole was the referee.
Super Welterweight Hector ‘Handsome’ Beltran (3-0, 3 costs) stopped Edgar ‘Cuate’ Gutierrez (3-4, 2 COs) at 2:35 of the third round of a scheduled four rounds. Ruben Perez was the referee.
