In the main support of the Katie Taylor vs Amanda Serrano 3 event, the undisputed super-featherweight world champion Alycia Baumgardner defeated the previously unbeaten Jennifer Miranda (12-1, 1 KO) as unanimous decision.
The fight was very competitive, but Baumgardner was able to successfully defend her undisputed crown. Miranda had her moments, but unfortunately for her she got on the scorecards.
In the opening round of the competition, both fighters went through the feeling-out process while trying to determine the scope and distance. Baumgardner started the second round aggressively as she pressed forward and the right hand ended up.
In the last part of the second round, Miranda was able to fight from the front foot and land some good shots. The action heated in the closing seconds of the fourth round, while Baumgardner and Miranda stood in the bag and exchanged bumps.
In rounds five and six, Alycia Baumgardner used controlled aggression because she had to be careful because Miranda was smart and that she had a slightly uncomfortable style. Early in round 8, Miranda landed a solid combination of two punch.
For the rest of the eighth and most of the ninth, both boxers could feed significant shots on the country. In the 10th and final round, Alycia Baumgardner hit immediately when she produced a solid left hand.
After that, Baumgardner continued to let her hands go as she threw a wave. The grim Miranda did not return when she finished the round and fought back. After the 10-round competition, Alycia Baumgardner achieved a unanimous victory by the scores of (98-92, 98-92, 97-93).
Prior to Friday night, undisputed champion Alycia Baumgardner (16-1, 7 COs) has not competed for a full 10 rounds over the past two years. Baumgardner appreciated getting the round in and successfully defending her super-springweight crown.
This is a new chapter for Alycia Baumgardner, as she has a new coach in Derrick James, and now she is being promoted by Jake Paul’s most valuable promotions. Baumgardner has experienced a lot of career success, but it seems that the best is yet to come.
