Jaron “Boots” Ennis (35-0, 31 Kos) made his Super Welterweight debut against Uussma “Monstro” Lima (14-2, 10 COs) on Saturday night, and made the statement, which completely dominated and defeated him through technical knockout.
Uisma landed only two strokes and was defensively overwhelmed by the violation of boots, which ended up 42.9 percent of his compubox. Ennis has won the WBA-Tuss-entitled title with victory and is now trying to take control of the 154 pound division. “We’ve never heard of them. This week, Eric Gomez called me and he said, ‘Look, let’s get Lubin out of the way, then we will fight to try the fight. “So, we give them the benefit of the doubt.
‘Not two guys who are in the late thirties, not two guys coming at the end of their career, two guys in their absolute lead. So, if everyone is true to their word, you will see boots against Ortiz in early 2026. ‘
Boots looked exceptionally impressive in his 154 pound debut. The extra weight allowed him to be so much better. Stronger and slightly faster, do not have to sacrifice to make weight. After his dominant performance Saturday night, it will be interesting to see if Golden Boy does indeed decide to fit Ortiz against Boots.
However, Vergil must first get past Erickson Lubin, arranged by Ring Magazine as the fifth best Super Welterweight. Boots himself acknowledge the problems in the match and say the following at the press: ‘It’s a wonderful struggle and I think it’s a 50-50 fight for sure. You know, you can’t really sleep on Lubin. He is a smart south leg. He is sharp, and he can punch.
“So, you know, it’s going to be a wonderful struggle. You know, Vergil brings the pressure and has a good stitch, throwing many bumps. It’s a wonderful battle to be boxing. Boots have some criticism of the choice of Lima as his opponent for this match, but he and Hearn said that the original opponent would be Keith Thurman for this match. A request was made to PBC, but they eventually could not work out a fight with them. Ennis seems determined to become unchanged, and if the Ortiz match does not materialize, he will probably try to fight Bakhram Murtazaliev, which itches to get back into the ring.
He has not had a fight since he defeated Tim Tszyu in October 2024. This seems to be the next logical choice, as Fundora recently postponed its battle on October 25 due to a hand injury. Bakhram even took to X (Twitter) even immediately after hearing that boots were calling for him: “I’m ready.” Whoever faces the next time, it will be against an opponent of the caliber who has all snapped to see.
