Coach Brian Norman Sr. has Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis Waste for his decision to reject a fight against Tim Tszyu in favor of a match against Uisma Lima in his debut on October 11 on October 11. Norman Sr. States that Ennis (34-0, 30 food) does not want anyone to “fight.”
Tszyu was the test
Ennis (28) uses Lima (14-1, 10 COs) to prepare for a potentially more challenging fight against Vergil Ortiz Jr. Early 2026. The fight still needs to be finalized, and it is uncertain whether it will actually occur.
Even if not, the former IBF and WBA welterweight champion Ennis could have used a more difficult battle to prepare himself for the kind of fighters expected to stand in the 154 pound division.

Boots play it safe
Ennis and his promoter, Eddie Hearn, chose to play it safe in his first fight at 154. They probably could take a risky battle, like Tszyu but rather chose for the match against Lima. When they preferred not to deal with the no. 1 WBO contender to negotiate Josh Kelly, it was clear that they would take no risks.
Karen made him turn
Ennis looked so bad last year on November 9 in his re -broadcast with Karen Chukhadzhian. From that bad experience, it is not surprising that Hearn does not choose to fit him tough in his debut at 154. Karen turned Boots’ head in the battle, which was much closer than the broad scores that the judges turned on for Ennis.
Ambrose’s view: Ennis’s stock stuck in neutral
“Tim Tszyu was a good fighter, and it was perfect for his style. It would certainly have increased his stock,” Norman Sr. said. “He doesn’t want to fight against anyone who can actually fight. You couldn’t stand up for Karen (Chukhadzhian), but you can stand up for Uisma Lima with 15 fights.”
Ennis should have had the fight with Tszyu if there was a chance for him to face him. The preparation he would have received would have helped him get ready for Vergil Ortiz. The Karen struggle took something out of Ennis in terms of his willingness to take risks.
