Blue Jays interested in 2 more hitters after signing with Santander

The Toronto Blue Jays finished a disappointing 2024 season with a record of 74-88, which landed them in last place in the American League East.

After making the postseason in 2022 and 2023, the Blue Jays finished with their first losing record since 2019 and missed the playoffs.

The offseason got off to a slow start for the Blue Jays after letting go of free agents Juan Soto, Corbin Burns and Rocky Sasaki, but are beginning to extend their contract with Anthony Santander.

While the Santander signing is a good start, the Blue Jays hope to acquire more talent before the start of the 2025 season.

“Blue Jays have expressed interest in Pete Alonso and Jurickson Profar, according to Marc Feinsand,” wrote B/R Walk-Off at X .

The Blue Jays proved they have money they’re willing to spend.

Alonso played all six seasons of his MLB career with the New York Mets.

In 2024, Alonso appeared in all 162 games and batted .240 with 34 home runs, 88 RBI and a .788 OPS.

Profar debuted in 2012 with the Texas Rangers and played for four teams during his 11-year MLB career.

With the San Diego Padres in 2024, Profar played 158 games and batted .280 with 24 home runs, 85 RBI and an .839 OPS.

Either player would be an improvement to the Blue Jays roster and they will be a team to keep an eye on as the 2025 season approaches.
