Bill Haney says Devin Haney can move on from Ryan Garcia

Bill indicated that talks with other opponents have taken place as the search for Devin’s next fight continues.

“I’ve spoken to Xander, I’ve spoken to Xander’s manager, Peter Khan, and I’ve also spoken to Rolly Romero’s manager,” Bill Haney told Champside when discussing possible opponents.

Those talks place Rolando “Rolly” Romero and unified junior middleweight champion Xander Zayas among the names currently being considered as negotiations continue over Haney’s next appearance.

Ryan Garcia remains the most prominent storyline related to Haney’s return. The two fighters continued to trade public accusations over accounts and financial terms as fans wait to see if a second fight will materialize.

Bill suggested the public back-and-forth was not matched by progress behind the scenes.

“They talk on social media, but behind the scenes they don’t do the things to make the fight happen,” Bill said.

This kind of situation happens often in boxing. Rivalries dominate headlines as promoters and managers quietly explore other bouts that could move forward more quickly if negotiations stall.

Rolly’s name had been circulating as a possible opponent for several months, and Bill confirmed that Romero’s team had already made contact about a possible fight. Zayas also remains a possibility should Haney decide to move up to junior middleweight, where the Puerto Rican champion has emerged as one of the division’s top young contenders.

Those options offer the Haney camp several viable avenues while the Ryan rematch remains unresolved.

Bill has indicated that Devin is targeting a return later this year, with a summer roster being considered as negotiations continue and the event begins to come together.
