Artur Beterbiev took to social media today to inquire about Jake Paul’s interest in challenging him for his undisputed light heavyweight championship. Beterbiev notices that Jake has neither rejected nor accepted his offer and wants to know if he is interested.
(21-0, 20 KOs) has already expressed interest in giving famous YouTuber Jake (11-1, 7 KOs) a title shot following his victory over former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson last Friday night in Arlington, Texas.
Few fans expect Jake Paul to accept the offer from two-time Olympian Beterbiev because he knows his chances of success will be non-existent. After four years in the pro game, 27-year-old influencer Jake isn’t such a fighter. He’s a guy who rushes fights and carefully picks his prey to secure a win against notable fighters who are past their prime.
Will Jake accept Beterbiev’s offer?
Beterbiev, 39, could make more money fighting Jake Paul than he could defending against former WBA 175-lb champion Dmitry Bivol in a rematch.
Jake has much more charisma, popularity and a huge following worldwide, which makes it more profitable for Beterbiev to fight him than Bivol, the rather dull comparison. The attention a fight between them would get would be levels above a rematch with Bivol.
Reacting to Beterbiev’s offer with amusement, Jake said to X: “4 years in, and I’m running this sport.”
The fighter Paul wants is Canelo Alvarez, who is the face of boxing, and the one who will bring him his biggest payday. Most fans would agree that Paul is not going to destroy his chances of hitting the mother load against Canelo by facing Beterbiev and getting destroyed in one or two one-sided rounds
World class fighters like Beterbiev could make enormous amounts of money fighting Jake Paul, and the publicity he and others would receive would be huge. It’s worth it for those reasons. Jake’s huge social media reach is why he and his opponents can command massive purses for fights.
Jake Paul’s subscriber count
– X (formerly Twitter): 4.6 million followers
– Instagram: 27 million followers
– YouTube: 20.8 subscribers
The popularity that Jake Paul has makes it worth Beterbiev’s effort to try and fight him.
After four years, it is time to have serious challenges. Didn’t see your acceptance or rejection. So what are we going to do?
