DAZN revealed today that the Artur Beterbiev vs. Dmitry Bivol undercard on October 12 will be shown as part of the normal subscription in the US and Canada.
British heavyweights Fabio Wardley (17-0-1, 16 KOs) and Frazer Clarke (8-0-1, 6 KOs) will meet in a 12-round rematch on DAZN. The two fighters fought to a competitive 12-round draw on March 31 at the O2 Arena in London earlier this year.
Wardley will defend his British heavyweight title against 2020 Olympic super heavyweight bronze medalist Clarke. In their previous fight, Wardley took a lot of facial damage from Clarke’s heavy hands, which put it on him.
The clash between unified heavyweight champion Artur Beterbiev and WBA champion Dmitry Bivol will be streamed on ESPN+ on non-PPV.
Fight on DAZN on October 12th
– Fabio Wardley vs Frazer Clarke
– Chris Eubank Jr. vs. Kamil Szeremeta
– Jai Opetaia vs. Jack Massey
– Skye Nicolson vs. Raven Chapman
– Ben Whittaker vs Liam Cameron
– Mohammed Alakel vs. Jesus Gonzalez
Middleweight contender Chris Eubank Jr. will face Kamil Szeremeta in the second fight under the main event on DAZN. After all these years, the 35-year-old Eubank Jr. (33-3, 24 KOs) still slowly coming towards a world title shot.
It’s hard to believe that it’s Eubank Jr. took that long to climb the ranks for a belt after losing to WBA super middleweight champion George Groves by a lopsided 12-round unanimous decision six years ago in 2018.
Eubank Jr. has earned good money fighting domestic and European opposition, which may be one of the reasons he hasn’t shown much urgency in positioning himself for a world title. It helps if you are the son of a famous British fighter. The money just rolls in.
A more compelling fight on the card for American fans is IBF cruiserweight champion Jai Opetaia (25-0, 19 KOs), who will defend against #11 Jack Massey (22-2, 12 KOs). It should be a decent waste for as long as it lasts.
It’s unclear if Massey was the best they could find for Opetaia to defend against, as a better opponent would have been Yuniel Dorticos, Richard Riakporhe or Cheavon Clarke.
You want to see someone with power who can knock back Opetaia to get his respect because if they have no pop on their shots, he bombs them out. Opetaia looked timid in his last fight against Mairis Briedis when he started getting hard, and he turned into a runner in Shakur Stevenson mode.
This surprised many fans as they had previously considered Opetaia unbeatable, but he looked very human in his rematch with Briedis in Riyadh last May. This time, Opetaia got a no-puncher, so he’ll probably do well against Massey, unless he’s having flashbacks from the Briedis fight.
