The overall feeling in the golf fans community was positive: Visiting a classic golf course, built by a legendary stylist, never before in tournament, in phase A Signature on the eve of a great championship. I was intrigued. Would the Wissahickon course do in Philadelphia Cricket ClubWith only a shadow of over 7,100 yards, be able to hold its own against today’s modern player and 14 clubs driven by the technology they surround in massive staff golf bags?
Putting a proliferator for things was the weather. There was rain in the area leading to the round of Thursday’s opening and came more. Regardless of the course – a wet and soft path with little or no odor is unprotected against today’s best players. And that scenario played on Thursday with Keith Mitchell The direction of the indictment, shooting a PAH-PATI, 9th Nine 61 to grab the first round superiority. Mitchell, by the way, has been hot red from the gate since late, sitting first or second after the first round in each of its last five beginnings. In addition to a racing completion at Corales Puntacana, Mitchell is not yet closed better than the 12th place during this extension.
Friday in Philadelphia presented a different story. Temperatures dropped, the rain continued to fall during the game and the wind began to take. There were more umbrellas and pairs of rain pants than there were birds. Five 72 players in the field fired on Thursday. Eighteen shot for Friday. Conditions made the Wissahickon course play longer. Even the big hitmen were finding the fairway bunkers that they were able to hold on Thursday. The marking average was three-plus shooting in round 2.
What is next for Rory Mcilroy? This crazy nba golf champion has thoughts
Mitchell maintained his lead, reaching 12 under a 67. Shane Lowry shot the low round of the day, five under, and is one shot by the superiority. Sepp Straka is on 10 under the championship, and a host of players are connected for the fourth in seven under, including Rory Mcilroy, Justin Thomas, Patrick Cantlay and Collin Morikawa.
So what to do by going on the weekend? Starting with the weather, it seems that the note can become easier on Saturday as the sun is expected and temperatures will jump by 20 degrees in the 1970s. The wind will refresh, however, with the prediction looking for a steady 15-20 mph breeze. Sunday seems to be benign with the wind below 10 mph and temperatures are becoming up to 80 degrees.
It is often sure to support predecessors on a bird party as they are unlikely to make many mistakes and slide back into the package. While this tour seemed that way, it seems that the model has changed.
SUPPORTING
Justin Thomas (14-1)
7 below, 5 back
Thomas had shown signs of return to the winner’s circle in 2025 and ultimately hit the door down Last month at RBC Heritage. He will enter the next week with a large part of Hoopla, as the double winner of the PGA Championship received his first PGA title in Quail Hollow in 2017. I speculated that he could be quieter this week, in possible allocation mode, knowing what next week would hold. With 36 holes in books, here he is in quarrel – in “Go Mode”. As is often the problem for Thomas in Bentgrass, Putter is not always cooperative. He is losing nearly two strokes on the field with Flastick and ranks 56th out of the 72 players after two rounds. On the other hand, he is no. 1 in this field for greens in Reg, second for SG: outside tee and fourth in access. If he can find a hot holder over the weekend, he can simply find his second victory in the beginnings of Back-to-back.
Patrick Cantlay (16-1)
7 below, 5 back
Cantlay blooms in bentgrass, in this part of the country and in courses that measure less than 7,200 yards. Even playing in the most difficult part of the afternoon on Friday, he still managed to shoot two under and keep himself in strife. Like Thomas, Cantlay is doing everything well except setting. Setting is an area of the game that can turn one way or the other in a heartbeat. And if you turn positively for a boy currently ranking 41st in this field for SG: setting, he, for him, will be in the mix this weekend. For SG: Tee to Green, both Cantlay and Thomas rank fourth in two rounds.

Rory Mcilroy (+550)
7 below, 5 back
Scottie Scheffler, who recently shot 253 during 72 holes to connect a PGA Tour record, may have something to say about it, but Mcilroy is without a doubt the hottest player in the world, having won three times this season, including the Grand Slam career ending with a Master’s last month. Hype that surrounds it will be even larger than that around Thomas while Mcilroy reaches Quail Hollow next week, a course in which he was won four times. With all this comes a heavy premium for the price. Mcilroy is associated with Thomas at seven under its price is more than twice as short. What? We mentioned the putter probably warming up for Cantlay and Thomas. Mcilroy is the fourth in this field for SG: setting. This is unlikely to hold over four rounds. Especially when it ranks 64th for SG: Access. If his cuffs continue to be wrong, Putter will eventually not be able to continue to release it on bail.
