All good things come to those who wait.

Belinda Bencic was not available to play the waiting game in this Tokyo final.

Olympic gold medalist Bencic defeated the powerful Czechs Linda Noskova 6-2, 6-3 in today’s Tokyo final to collect her 10th career Toray Pan Pacific Open championship.

A focused Bencic overturned her line with precision to take the final one hour and 22 minutes a decade after she crashed out in the title match in Tokyo.

Playing in Tokyo brings good vibes for Bencic, who won the 2021 Olympic gold medal in Tokyo and was Toray Pan Pacific Open runner-up to Agnieszka Radwanska in 2015.

“It was great playing in front of you guys,” Bencic said after the match. “The last time I won here was the Tokyo Olympics when it was an empty stadium, so it was a completely different atmosphere, but it was great to play in front of you guys.

“I love playing in Japan, so I’m very happy to finally win this tournament.”

This is Bencic’s second title of the season after her title in Abu Dhabi in February. Bencic climbs from number 13 to number 11 in the WTA rankings.
