David Banavidez, a slimmer, showed up his hand speed that works out on the Mitts today, while preparing his WBC lightweight belt against Anthony Yarde on November 22 on his WBC lightweight belt on November 22 on his WBC lightweight belt against Anthony Yarde, Saudi Arabia.
The grueling battle with Morrell
Benavidez (30-0, 24 CO’s) must decline after getting pounds after his 12-round victory over David Morrell on February 1, 2025. The fight was possibly the most grueling one of Benavidez’s twelve-year professional career. Some of the bumps that Morrell ended up in rounds 9 to 12 on Banavidez stopped very light heavyweights.
‘The Mexican faders of Benavidez’s previous battle against the former 175-pound WBC champion, Oleksandr Gvozdyk, made disappeared in the championships against Morrell on June 15, 2024, was hit in the 12th round and taken in the 12th shots.
A history of fatigue
Banavidez’s endurance is still a concern, because he has been gasped in the later rounds in both his fights since he came up to the 175 pound division in 2024. The knockout no longer comes for benavidez now that he is fighting at a similar size as he is fighting. When Banavidez fought from 2013 to 2023 at 168, he had the great advantage over his opponents and could be close to overwhelming them with volume.
Since Benavidez’s power has moved up to 175, he is not the same, and is hit hard using his high-output style. Morrell and Gvozdyk both injured benavidez in their fights.
A softer match against Yarde
Yarde (27-3, 24 CO’s) will give Benavidez a break from the difficult fights he had, as it is an opponent who expects fans to quickly find out, break down and stop. In the two world titled photos of Yarde in the past, he was knocked out by Artur Betterbiev and Sergey Kovalev.
After that, IBF, WBC and WBO Light Heavyweight Champion Betterbiev walked through a few large brackets and extracts of Yarde early to stop him on January 28, 2023 in the eighth round in the Wembley Arena in the eighth round. It was competitive until the seventh round when Betterbiev started pouring it against the tired way at a close distance.
Does Yarde deserve this chance?
Fans are questioning whether Yarde earns another world title after his loss of Betterbiev in 2023. Although Yarde won his last four fights since his 8th round TKO loss against Artur, his opposition was not yet highly contender.
