David Banavidez says he wants to fight Artur Betterbiev or Dmitri Bivol next after defending his WBC Lights Heavyweight title against Anthony Yarde on November 22, 2025, in the ANB Arena in Riyadh.
Benavidez (30-0, 24 food) couldn’t get the fight he wanted against Canelo Alvarez. He is not interested in moving to 168 to encounter Terence Crawford for his four belts, and the feeling is mutually on his part.
Benavidez put his attention to betterbiev
“What’s left for me? In my opinion, a battle with betterbiev or Biblical is the next, ‘David Banavidez said Fight Hub TV. “The fights I want are betterbiev and BISHAL just because I want to challenge myself. I want to be the best without doubt. ‘
Artur Betterbiev would probably be Benavidez’s best option for a fight, as Bivol has already evacuated his WBA title when he was ordered to defend against him. The move showed that Biblical does not hold the fight against him.
A problem that Benavidez can fight against Artur is his regular injuries. He is 41 on January 26, 2026, and it starts to be a problem for him to be injured while exercising.
Zurdo Ramirez Word Plan B
“If I can’t do it, my plan is to get a fight against Zurdo Ramirez at Cruiserweight. I was held back because these other fighters don’t want to give me an opportunity because they know what’s going to happen, ‘says Benavidez.
‘The Mexican Monster’ Benavidez added that he didn’t see anyone else there for Gilberto Ramirez to fight except himself. He says he is a bigger name than the IBF Cruiserweight Champion Jai Opetaia, and he is right. American fans are much more familiar with benavidez than they are with the Australian Opetaia.
In the end, this may amount to whether Turki Alalshikh is willing to offer Zurdo Ramirez a higher salary to fight benavidez rather than Opetaia.
Jai recently made it clear in an interview that he wanted to become the undisputed champion at Cruiserweight by defeating Zurdo Ramirez and Badou Jack. It should not matter to Opetaia whether he is fighting for the belts against Ramirez or Benavidez, but maybe.
